Walker (appendix) is rejoining the team this week in Pittsburgh to meet with the training staff before heading out on a rehab assignment, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The 23-year-old has apparently recovered well from appendicitis, but he won't return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Friday. Walker may need only a couple rehab games in the minors and could be back with the Cardinals early next week.

The Giants recalled Matos from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

With Christian Koss (hamstring) headed to the injured list, the Giants will turn to Matos to replenish the big club's bench depth. The 23-year-old outfielder owns a .572 OPS in the big leagues this season but has slashed .272/.326/.444 across 89 plate appearances since being sent down to the minors in early June.

The Dodgers recalled Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Klein was optioned down to Triple-A on June 26 despite pitching well in a couple appearances with the big club. With Michael Kopech (knee) landing on the injured list, Klein will get another opportunity to prove himself.

The Giants placed Koss on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left hamstring strain, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Koss had to make an early exit from Monday's game after injuring his hamstring during his third at-bat, and he'll now be forced to sit out at least another 10 days. With Matt Chapman (hand) and Casey Schmitt (wrist) also on the IL, Wilmer Flores is likely to see some time at third base in the near future. Meanwhile, Luis Matos will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to replenish the Giants' bench depth.

Thomas will undergo surgery to have a loose body removed from his left elbow in mid-July, and it's also possible that he requires Tommy John surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander was already ruled out for the rest of 2025 due to the elbow procedure, but the possibility of Tommy John surgery also puts his availability for 2026 in jeopardy. After being selected by the Brewers during the Rule 5 Draft in December, Thomas made just two appearances this season before landing on the injured list.

The Dodgers placed Kopech on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right knee inflammation, retroactive to June 28.

Kopech returned from a shoulder impingement injury June 8 but finds himself back on the injured list with a different injury. The right-hander had been stellar in his return to action as he made eight appearances and allowed zero runs across seven innings. With the 29-year-old heading back to the injured list, Will Klein was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Betts isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Betts will get a chance to regroup Tuesday after going 0-for-8 with two strikeouts over his last two contests. Hyeseong Kim will take over at shortstop and bat ninth for the Dodgers.

Naylor (neck) is batting cleanup as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Giants.

The 28-year-old slugger sat out the previous three games due to neck stiffness, but he's back in the lineup in a non-defensive capacity Tuesday versus San Francisco. Pavin Smith is starting at first base with Naylor easing his way back into the starting nine.

Mitchell (shoulder) is undergoing surgery on his left shoulder Tuesday, and the goal is for him to be healthy for spring training next year, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Manager Pat Murphy previously floated the possibility of Mitchell returning late in the season, but he'll instead spend the rest of 2025 recovering and rehabbing from the shoulder procedure. It's another lost season for the 26-year-old, who played in just 25 games before landing on the injured list and has seen action in only 141 big-league contests in the regular season since making his debut in 2022.

Arenado was diagnosed with a right index finger sprain Tuesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Arenado initially injured himself Sunday and worked as the DH on Monday, but he will be held out of the starting nine entirely Tuesday while Nolan Gorman starts at the hot corner. X-rays on Arenado's finger came back negative, so he's being considered day-to-day for now.
