Chandler (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Cardinals, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out six.

Although Chandler gave up only three hits and tied a season high in punchouts, each knock went for extra bases Wednesday. Control remained an issue as well for the hard-throwing right-hander, who issued multiple walks for the fifth time in six starts this season. Chandler has a disappointing 4.97 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 27:20 K:BB over 29 innings, and he'll be looking for better command in his next scheduled outing in Arizona.

Brown tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief with a strikeout to earn a hold in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.

The Cubs are dealing with injuries to Daniel Palencia (lat), Riley Martin (elbow), Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) and Hunter Harvey (triceps), but Brown has helped stabilize the team's bullpen. The lanky righty has a stellar 1.99 ERA and 22 strikeouts across 22.2 innings so far. As he demonstrated Wednesday, Brown can also give Chicago multiple innings in relief, which has been a valuable asset in his 10 appearances this season.

Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-4 with a home run and three total RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.

Crow-Armstrong hasn't really gotten his power stroke going yet, but he has now homered in consecutive games to get to three long balls on the year. Before Tuesday, his only home run of the season came back on April 7. Crow-Armstrong's .241 batting average is similar to last year's .247 mark, but his OPS is down from .768 in 2025 to .669 so far in 2026. However, he's capable of getting hot in a hurry, and his ability to rack up stolen bases as well raises his fantasy ceiling.

Shaw went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.

Despite being in a utility role, Shaw has been close to a regular lately, as Wednesday was his third start in Chicago's last four games, and his hot bat is making it hard to keep him out of the lineup. The 24-year-old is now batting .301 with an .849 OPS, and his ability to both hit for power and swipe a base raises his ceiling even further. It's hard to know where Shaw will slot in each day, but he's certainly establishing some fantasy value in the early going.

Williamson was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies with left shoulder fatigue, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Williamson made it through just three innings before coming out of Wednesday's game, giving up four earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four batters. It's currently unknown whether the shoulder issue will cause the Reds to postpone his next start or move him to the IL, but he's slated to receive an MRI on Thursday that will help determine his short-term availability.

Milner struck out the only batter he faced to record a save in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.

The Cubs got 1.2 innings from Ben Brown following seven strong frames by starter Jameson Taillon, but when the Padres pinch hit lefty Gavin Sheets with two outs in the ninth, Chicago countered with the southpaw Milner. San Diego then went to the bench again and sent out Ramon Laureano, though Milner was up to the task. It was the reliever's first save of the season and just his second at the MLB level. With all of Daniel Palencia (lat), Riley Martin (elbow), Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) and Hunter Harvey (triceps) out, Milner has had to step into a more prominent role, and he's responded with a 2.40 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 15 innings so far.

Glasnow did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on three hits and six walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out nine.

While it was the first time Glasnow failed to make it through six innings this season, the right-hander managed to limit the damage by matching a season high in strikeouts despite issuing a season high six walks -- he hadn't issued more than two free passes in any of his prior five starts. Glasnow's ERA sits at 2.56 with a stellar 0.83 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB across 38.2 innings this year. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Astros on the road in his next outing.

Faucher earned the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers, working around three walks in a scoreless ninth inning.

After Pete Fairbanks (hand) landed on the IL on Tuesday, it was Faucher who got the second crack at the ninth-inning job Wednesday after Tyler Phillips picked up the save Tuesday night. It didn't come easy for Faucher, who walked the bases loaded with one out, but he managed to induce a game-ending double play off the bat of Freddie Freeman to seal a one-run victory. The 30-year-old Faucher sports a 4.91 ERA with a 1.82 WHIP and 13:12 K:BB across 11 innings this season. He figures to share closing duties with Phillips and Anthony Bender while Fairbanks is sidelined.

Alcantara did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

While he didn't come away with the win, Alcantara did deliver a second straight quality start en route to an eventual 3-2 Miami victory. Alcantara has delivered quality starts in five of his seven outings this season. His ERA sits at 3.04 with a 1.16 WHIP and 31:15 K:BB across 47.1 innings. Alcantara is currently lined up to face the Orioles at home his next time out.

Hamilton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

With the Diamondbacks sending southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez to the bump, Hamilton will hit the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick. Joey Ortiz will draw the start at shortstop in Hamilton's stead.
