Susac (back) has started his swing progression and has been throwing on flat ground out to 105 feet, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Susac is also scheduled to begin a running progression later this week as he continues to ramp up his activities. The rookie catcher is working his way back from a lower-back strain and it seems he can be ruled out through the All-Star break. A timeline for Susac's return to the active roster could come to light later this week.

Pinango is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

Even with right-hander Landen Roupp taking the mound for the Giants, the lefty-hitting Pinango will be on the bench for Monday's series opener while Myles Straw starts in left field and bats eighth. Since returning to the majors June 27, Pinango has gone 4-for-23 (.174) with one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts.

Springer (personal) is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

Springer was moved from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Saturday and is expected to join the Blue Jays for their series in San Francisco, but he will not be in the lineup for the series opener. Sean Keys will serve as Toronto's designated hitter and bat fifth.

Gage will undergo an MRI on his left elbow Monday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Gage was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left elbow strain, but he'll have imaging to make sure he doesn't have structural damage. The lefty reliever will be re-evaluated by Dr. Ken Akizuki later Monday after the MRI before next steps in his recovery are determined.

Bader (foot) will take batting practice Monday and run the bases Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

As long as he comes out of those activities with no setbacks, Bader should be able to begin a rehab assignment soon. The veteran outfielder has been sidelined since late May due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Loftin went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.

The Royals' batters dominated in Monday's series finale, scoring a run in all eight frames. Loftin contributed to his team's six-run first inning with an RBI single before driving in another run on a groundout in the seventh. It was his eighth multi-hit game of the season and his third of at least three hits. Loftin is slashing .236/.332/.382 with one steal, 16 extra-base hits and 27 RBI across 185 plate appearances this season.

Major League Baseball announced that Cavalli's seven-game suspension has been reduced to five games following an appeal, Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic reports. The right-hander will begin serving the ban in Monday's series opener versus the Astros.

During his start last Tuesday against the Red Sox, Cavalli made a remark to Boston's Willson Contreras after striking him out, which instigated a benches-clearing brawl between the two clubs. As a result of getting his suspension reduced to five games, Cavalli will lose out on some salary but isn't expected to miss out on any starts. He's now lined up to take the ball Sunday against the Yankees in his final start of the first half.

Smith is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Diego.

It's right-hander Walker Buehler on the mound for the Padres, but the left-handed-hitting Smith will nonetheless begin the contest on the bench. Smith -- who is slashing an ugly .157/.259/.214 in 25 games this season -- will yield first base to Ildemaro Vargas.

Edman (foot/ankle) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Rockies.

Edman was scratched from Sunday's lineup versus the Padres due to soreness in his right foot/ankle. It's the same ankle he had surgically repaired over the offseason, but the current injury is unrelated, as Edman is sore as a result of a hit-by-pitch Saturday. Miguel Rojas will fill in at second base for the Dodgers on Monday.

The Red Sox optioned Gamboa to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.

After being recalled from Triple-A last Wednesday, Gamboa made two appearances out of the Red Sox bullpen, giving up two earned runs in 3.1 innings. He'll head back to the minors to clear room on the active roster for left-hander Patrick Sandoval (biceps), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and is expected to join the rotation later this week.
