  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Hoskins started the previous eight games and will head to the bench after going 5-for-29 (.172 average) with three doubles, a homer, four RBI and five runs during that span. Chase DeLauter is serving as the designated hitter Tuesday while George Valera picks up a start in the outfield.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: First career outfield appearance

Gelof is starting in right field and batting seventh Tuesday versus the Rangers.

Tuesday's game will mark Geldof's first career regular-season appearance in the outfield at the major-league level. The second baseman got work in the outfield during spring training as well as a few games of work in Triple-A Las Vegas after failing to make the Opening Day roster.

  • Bailey Horn P | DET

    Tigers' Bailey Horn: Suffers setback

The Tigers paused Horn's (elbow) rehab assignment Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Horn has been working his way back from arthroscopic surgery he underwent on his left elbow in the offseason and has made two rehab appearances with Detroit's Single-A affiliate, but he appears to have suffered a setback. An updated timeline for his return may emerge after he undergoes further evaluation.

  • Coby Mayo 3B | BAL

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Sitting again Tuesday

Mayo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.

It's the second straight day on the bench for Mayo, who has struggled through his first 12 games of 2026 with a .158/.273/.184 slash line and 29.5 percent strikeout rate in 44 plate appearances. Blaze Alexander is picking up another start at third base Tuesday for Baltimore.

  • Max Muncy SS | ATH

    Athletics' Max Muncy: Starting Tuesday

Muncy (hand) is starting at third base Tuesday and batting fifth versus the Rangers.

Muncy exited Monday's game against the Rangers due to a bruised left hand that was the result of a hit-by-pitch. All appears well Tuesday for the third baseman, who missed only a few of innings after leaving in the top of the seventh Monday.

  • Troy Melton P | DET

Tigers' Troy Melton: Throwing off mound

Melton (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The 25-year-old righty suffered an elbow strain early in spring training and began the season on the 60-day injured list, but he started his throwing program about a month ago and has now resumed mound work. Melton will be eligible to be reinstated in late May, but it remains to be seen if he'll be ready to join the Tigers at that point given that he just returned to the mound and will require a lengthy rehab assignment.

  • Beau Brieske RP | DET

Tigers' Beau Brieske: Throws off mound

Brieske (groin) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Tuesday marks the first time Brieske has thrown off a mound since he suffered a left adductor strain during spring training. He was placed on the 60-day injured list before the regular season began and isn't eligible to return until late May, but the 28-year-old appears to be progressing as expected.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Starting rehab assignment

Berrios (elbow) will report to Single-A Dunedin on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The veteran right-hander is scheduled to throw about 50 pitches across three innings, and he may not require a lengthy rehab assignment before being cleared to come off the injured list. Berrios didn't seem to have a guaranteed rotation spot during spring training given Toronto's offseason additions, but he should get that opportunity based on the injuries the Blue Jays have dealt with early this season.

  • Pavin Smith RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Slated for surgery

Manager Torey Lovullo said that Smith will undergo surgery Wednesday to remove loose bodies from his left elbow, Chris Garagiola of the Arizona Diamondbacks Radio Network reports.

Smith landed on the 10-day injured list in late March due to elbow inflammation before being transferred to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. His surgery is expected to keep him sidelined for approximately 6-to-8 weeks, lining him up to return sometime in late May or early June. Adrian Del Castillo and Jose Fernandez have made most of the starts at designated hitter while Smith has been out.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Dealing with sore forearm

Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Crawford (wrist) was pulled off his rehab assignment due to forearm soreness, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The right-hander is working his way back from the wrist surgery he underwent last summer, but that progression will be paused for a bit. Cora said that Crawford won't require an MRI, so there doesn't appear to be much concern about the forearm issue. He could resume his rehab assignment sometime next week.
