Giants manager Tony Vitello said Wednesday that Gage (knee) has joined the team in Atlanta and will be activated from the 15-day injured list before the end of the series, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Giants will complete Tuesday's suspended game Wednesday afternoon before playing their regularly scheduled game in the evening, and then they'll have the series finale Thursday. Gage has been sidelined since early June with right knee inflammation but is ready to roll after making one scoreless rehab appearance.

Ward is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

The left-handed-hitting Ward will give way to platoon mate Alex Call while the Rays send southpaw Shane McClanahan to the bump for the series finale. While starting in each of the Dodgers' last four games, Ward went 3-for-9 with two doubles, two walks and one run.

Muncy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

With the Dodgers playing an afternoon game after a night game and with a lefty (Shane McClanahan) on the bump for the Rays, the left-handed-hitting Muncy will be handed his first day off since June 5. The newly activated Tommy Edman will cover third base while Muncy heads to the bench after a stretch of 10 consecutive starts.

Double-A Montgomery placed Overn on the 7-day injured list May 27 with an undisclosed injury.

Overn, who last played May 23, has had an extreme season both good and bad, as he has a .309/.375/.533 slash line with seven homers and 28 steals in 38 games despite a 32.5 percent strikeout rate. One of the better athletes in the upper minors, Overn's hit tool won't be a strength and could be poor enough that it prevents him from playing regularly at the highest level.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Javier (shoulder) will make a fourth minor-league rehab start before returning from the 60-day injured list, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Javier made his third rehab start and second straight start with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while yielding three earned runs on four hits and one walk. He built up to 63 pitches (37 strikes) in the outing, so the Astros will likely want to see Javier push up his count into the 75-to-85 range in his next start, which will likely come either Sunday or Tuesday. If all goes smoothly, Javier could slot back into the Houston rotation as soon as next weekend's series in Detroit. The right-hander has been on the shelf since April 10 due to a Grade 2 shoulder strain.

The Tigers placed Torres on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain.

Torres sustained the injury during Monday's game in Houston. He missed more than a month of action earlier this season with the same injury before returning in early June. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined this time around, but it will likely be longer than a minimum absence. Hao-Yu Lee has drawn two straight starts at second base for the Tigers and could share the position with Zach McKinstry while Torres is shelved.

The Tigers reinstated Mize (adductor) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Astros in Houston.

Mize had been slated to return from the IL this past Sunday, but after their series finale in Cleveland was postponed, the Tigers opted to delay his activation a few more days. The right-hander will be taking the hill Wednesday for his first outing with the big club since May 27 and could be operating with a slight workload restriction after covering five innings and tossing 55 pitches in his lone minor-league rehab start last Tuesday. Prior to hitting the shelf due to right adductor inflammation, Mize went 2-3 and posted a 2.27 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over 47.2 innings in his nine starts with Detroit.

France will start at first base and bat seventh Wednesday against the Cardinals.

France will end up covering first base for all three games of the series in St. Louis, after he went 1-for-6 with an RBI between Monday and Tuesday. He appears to have an edge over the likes of Sung-Mun Song, Jase Bowen and Nick Solak for the final spot in San Diego's everyday lineup, but France will likely be the top choice to move to the bench once the Padres get one of Jake Cronenworth (concussion) or Miguel Andujar (hamstring) back from the injured list.

Robbie Ray had previously been scheduled to start, but he'll instead take the ball earlier Wednesday for the resumption of Tuesday's suspended game. That leaves the nightcap for Whisenhunt, who will serve as the Giants' 27th man and will likely be sent back to Sacramento following the spot start. Whisenhunt has spent all of this season with Sacramento, posting a 3.65 ERA and 77:30 K:BB over 69 innings.

Klein notched a hold against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, walking one batter in a hitless and scoreless inning of work.

After Justin Wrobleski gave the Dodgers six scoreless innings, manager Dave Roberts turned to Klein in the seventh to keep the shutout going. The right-hander came through, issuing a leadoff walk but getting out of the frame having faced the minimum thanks to a double play. Klein had just one hold across 14 regular-season appearances last year, but he's already collected 10 holds (along with one save) through 25 outings in 2026. He's earned the higher-leverage role with a 2.12 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 31:22 K:BB across 29.2 innings.
