• Heat's Alec Burks: Gets one-year deal from Miami

  Burks agreed to a one-year contract with the Heat on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. After spending the first seven years of his career in Utah, Burks has moved around the league over the last six seasons, most recently playing for the Pistons and Knicks during the 2023-24 campaign. Over 66 regular-season appearances in 2023-24, he averaged 10.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game. Burks will likely have to settle for a bench role once again this season due to Miami's talent in the backcourt, but he's a decent scorer who has been relatively productive from the perimeter over the past few seasons.

• Knicks' Alec Burks: Steps up off bench in Game 7

  Burks tallied 26 points (8-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds and two assists over 27 minutes in Sunday's 130-109 loss to Indiana in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Burks provided New York with strong play off the bench in the winner-take-all contest, leading all bench players in Sunday's game in scoring while ending as one of two Knicks with 25 or more points in the season-ending loss. Burks, who didn't appear in the postseason prior to the series against the Pacers, set a playoff high in scoring while tallying 15 or more points in three of his final four games.

• Knicks' Alec Burks: Drops team-high 20 points

  Burks contributed 20 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. With the Pacers jumping out to a huge lead and Jalen Brunson looking less than 100 percent, Burks saw extended playing time and made the most of his opportunity. We know Burks can put up points in a hurry when afforded meaningful playing time. However, with that said, New York fans will be hoping this is not the case in Game 5 on Tuesday, given his outbursts tend to come when the Knicks are on the wrong end of the blowout.

• Knicks' Alec Burks: Cracks rotation Wednesday

  Burks closed Wednesday's 130-121 victory over the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with zero points (0-1 FG) in one minute. Burks dusted himself off Wednesday, leaving the bench for the first time this postseason. Jalen Brunson was forced to the locker room during the second quarter, affording one minute of playing time to Burks. Given Brunson was able to return to the game, it is unlikely we see Burks again anytime soon.

• Knicks' Alec Burks: Handles light role in return

  Burks (shoulder) tallied five points (2-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in 12 minutes Sunday in the Knicks' 113-112 win over the Thunder. Burks was back in action after a three-game absence due to a sprained shoulder but wasn't able to make much of an impression during his time on the court. He'll likely hold down a minor role in New York's rotation in the short term, but he could see his playing time disappear entirely once the team gets OG Anunoby (elbow) and Julius Randle (shoulder) back from injury.
