The Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to the 76ers on Wednesday in exchange for George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. After two injury-filled years with the 76ers, the star forward will join the Celtics. The star forward has reached the 70-game mark just once over his last seven regular seasons, but he'll now get the opportunity to function as Jayson Tatum's running mate in a big role for the Celtics. George averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals in 30.7 minutes per contest over 37 regular-season games in 2025-26.

George could be in line for a larger workload after Philadelphia lost both Kelly Oubre and Quentin Grimes this offseason, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. With two key wing contributors no longer on the roster, the veteran forward should be asked to shoulder more of the scoring and playmaking responsibilities alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Assuming he stays healthy, George could be positioned for a bounce-back fantasy campaign with an expanded role on the wing.

George contributed seven points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), one rebound and two assists over 27 minutes during Sunday's 144-114 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. George went out with a whimper, turning in easily his worst game of the postseason. In fact, his seven points matched his season low, summing up what was a rough night for the 76ers. With the season coming to an end, discussions regarding George's immediate future will undoubtedly begin to bubble. Through 49 appearances in both the regular season and the playoffs, George averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.8 three-pointers.

George had 19 points (7-18 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals over 43 minutes during Wednesday's 108-102 loss to the Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. George got off to a hot start, drilling his first four shots and racking up 11 points in his first five minutes of action. However, the Knicks did an excellent job shutting him down in the second half, holding him to just six points on 2-for-9 shooting after the break. The 76ers will look to climb out of their 0-2 hole with the series shifting to Philadelphia on Friday.

George supplied 17 points (6-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 26 minutes in Monday's 137-98 loss to the Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. George turned in an efficient performance Monday, knocking down a game-high four triples while leading Philadelphia in scoring despite a blowout loss that kept him off the floor in the fourth quarter. The veteran forward also paced the first unit in assists. He has now hit at least three three-pointers in six straight games, scoring 16-plus points in five of them. George will look to remain productive in Game 2 on Wednesday as the Sixers try to steal a game at Madison Square Garden.
