• Brandon Knight: Continuing career in Puerto Rico

  Knight agreed to a contract Tuesday with Puerto Rican club Piratas de Quebradillas, GuerraBSN.com reports. The 31-year-old Knight has been on the open market since the end of the 2021-22 season but failed to attract much interest in free agency from NBA teams, so he'll move outside the country for his next opportunity. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Knight's career has been on a downward trajectory since he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in July 2017. The combo guard has made 451 career regular-season appearances (349 starts) over parts of nine active seasons in the NBA, averaging 14.0 points, 3.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 29.3 minutes over stops with the Pistons, Bucks, Suns, Rockets, Cavaliers and Mavericks.

  Knight didn't re-sign with the Mavericks on Saturday after his second 10-day contract expired, NBA writer Marc Stein reports. The Mavericks only path to keep Knight on the roster for the playoffs would be to give him a guaranteed contract, so they will ultimately let the veteran guard head to free agency. He averaged 6.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 13.0 minutes in five games.

  Knight (recently signed) will play 12 to 15 minutes during Wednesday's game against the Cavaliers, Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News reports. Knight was on a 10-day in December with the Mavericks, averaging 10.0 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 18.3 minutes. He'll see an elevated role in the rotation with Spencer Dinwiddie (knee), Frank Ntilikina (ankle) and Trey Burke (COVID-19) sidelined.

  Knight managed six points (1-5 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, two rebounds and one steal during Sunday's loss to Iowa. Despite struggling offensively with just one converted shot attempt, Knight picked up the slack in the passing game by finishing second on the squad in assists. It was the veteran's second appearance with Sioux Falls since Jan. 20, as he's been nursing some sort of issue lately. Knight has scored in double figures in three of his past four matchups dating back to Jan. 18.
