Cauley-Stein has signed a contract with the Rockets, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports. Cauley-Stein will be on the Rockets' active roster for their regular-season finale, although head coach Stephen Silas implied that he might not actually see the floor Sunday. The veteran big man is not a great target in most leagues.

Cauley-Stein logged four points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and two steals across 29 minutes across during the Vipers' 114-110 loss to Delaware on Thursday. Despite sitting out Game 1 of the 2023 G League Finals for personal reasons, Cauley-Stein was able to both participate in and be a starter for Game 2. Unfortunately for him, he was the Vipers' least impressive starter as they went on to suffer a 2-0 series sweep.

Cauley-Stein did not play during Tuesday's 134-120 loss to Delaware because of personal reasons. Personal reasons prevented Cauley-Stein from participating in Game 1 of the 2023 G League Finals. Currently, his next opportunity to play against Delaware is Thursday night.

The Rockets won't offer Cauley-Stein a second 10-day contract after his initial deal expired Wednesday, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports. Cauley-Stein didn't make any NBA appearances during his 10-day contract and will likely rejoin the Rockets' G League affiliate in Rio Grande Valley unless another NBA team swoops in and signs him. He previously appeared in 20 games (two starts) between the Mavericks and 76ers during the 2021-22 season, averaging 1.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 9.2 minutes.

Cauley-Stein agreed Monday with the Rockets on a 10-day deal, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. After being cut by Houston in training camp, Cauley-Stein has spent the season playing for the club's G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Over 10 appearances for Rio Grande Valley, the seven-foot center has averaged 9.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals in 28.3 minutes. The Rockets have been getting destroyed defensively all season, and while the addition of Cauley-Stein won't solve that problem, he could at least prove to be a superior backup option at center than Usman Garuba or Frank Kaminsky.
