• Jabari Parker: Signs deal overseas

  Parker signed a one-year, $2 million contract with Spanish club FC Barcelona on Monday. Parker, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, will look to get his career back on track with one of the top teams in Spain. The 28-year-old recently took part in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Bucks, but his last regular-season NBA action came in 2021-22 with the Celtics, when he made a total of 12 appearances.

  Parker will be waived by the Celtics, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Boston is aiming to maintain roster flexibility, so Parker falls victim to circumstance. He appeared in 12 games and averaged 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.3 minutes. He's appeared in just 63 games since the start of the 2019 season.

• Celtics' Jabari Parker: Small role, despite missing players

  Parker played nine minutes in Monday's 108-103 loss to the Timberwolves, finishing with three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists. Jayson Tatum's entry in the protocols Monday opened up minutes at forward for both Parker and Sam Hauser (11 minutes), though both players were only fringe members of the rotation. While Tatum is likely to miss at least a few more games, Boston could get at least one or two of the other nine players who were sidelined Monday back for the Celtics' next contest Wednesday against the Clippers. If that's the case, Parker would seem to be at risk of losing out on a spot on the second unit. Parker, who cleared the protocols himself Christmas Day, has logged just 21 total minutes between his first two games back in action.
