  • Tyler Johnson: Deal with Spurs expires
    By RotoWire

Johnson's 10-day contract with the Spurs expired Sunday, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Johnson appeared in three games for San Antonio and averaged 2.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 17.7 minutes during his brief time with the team. He was with the 76ers on a 10-day deal before joining the Spurs, and he's now back to free agency.

  • Johnson and the Spurs agreed Friday to a 10-day contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Johnson had a 10-day with the Sixers in late December. He appeared in three games and averaged 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 12.7 minutes. It would be surprising if he saw significantly more time with the Spurs.

The 76ers didn't re-sign Johnson (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) after his 10-day contract expired Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Johnson's entry into the protocols Thursday made it an easy decision for the 76ers to forgo re-signing him, given that he wasn't expected to be available for several games. Once he clears the protocols, Johnson's ample experience at the NBA level could allow him to find work with another team whose backcourt depth is tested by injuries or COVID-19-related absences.

  • Johnson entered the league's health and safety protocols Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Johnson joined the 76ers on a hardship contract early last week, but he'll now be forced to isolate from the team. It's not yet clear whether he's tested positive for the virus or when he'll be able to return.

  • Johnson signed a 10-day hardship contract with the 76ers on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Johnson played in 39 games for the Nets last season, averaging 5.4 points per game on 36.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The eighth-year pro will likely step right into a rotational role for Philadelphia, as Tyrese Maxey (quadriceps), Furkan Korkmaz (llness) and Shake Milton (COVID-19 protocols) all may be sidelined for Monday's contest against the Celtics.
