• Shaquille Harrison: Deal with Memphis expires

  The Grizzlies opted not to re-sign Harrison after his 10-day contract expired Sunday, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian reports. Along with guard Jaylen Nowell, Harrison was added to the roster Nov. 24 on a 10-day hardship exception, which the Grizzlies were awarded from the NBA after the team was deemed to have five players out with long-term injuries. Herrington notes that the Grizzlies expect to get Jake LaRavia (eye) back from injury within the next two weeks, so the team elected to part ways with Harrison while keeping Nowell around on a second 10-day deal. Even while the Grizzlies were short on healthy bodies, Harrison struggled to crack coach Taylor Jenkins' rotation, as he logged just six total minutes across three appearances with Memphis.

  The Grizzlies plan on signing Harrison to a hardship 10-day contract Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Memphis' injury report is extensive, allowing the organization the flexibility to add short-term options from the free agent pool. Harrison, a 6-foot-4 guard, is a strong athlete and defender who has 180 games of NBA experience with six organizations. For his career, he's averaging 5.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals in 15.4 minutes. Harrison may challenge Derrick Rose and two-way point guard Jacob Gilyard for reserve minutes in the backcourt.

  The Grizzlies waived Harrison on Saturday. Harrison joined Memphis on an Exhibit 10 deal ahead of training camp and fell short in his bid for a spot on the 15-man roster. The Grizzlies will retain his G League rights, so if he clears waivers, Harrison could be headed for the Memphis Hustle.

  The Grizzlies signed Harrison on Thursday. Harrison will join his seventh team in as many seasons in 2023-24. Last year, he made five appearances for the Trail Blazers and averaged 8.8 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 steals in 24.0 minutes. Harrison will likely compete for a depth role in Memphis' backcourt and is unlikely to see significant playing time.

  The Lakers waived Harrison on Thursday, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Harrison was waived by the Lakers alongside Mo Bamba. Harrison signed with Los Angeles in April of 2023 but didn't make any appearances for the team. The 29-year-old guard will look to join his eighth team in six years this offseason.
