Simmons' 10-day contract with the Raptors expired Wednesday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Simmons averaged 5.0 points, 3.0 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 16.8 minutes across his four appearances for Toronto. The Raptors are able to sign Simmons to another 10-day contract, but his spot on the 15-man roster is expected to go to center Malik Williams, whom Shams Charania of The Athletic reported agreed to a 10-day deal with Toronto earlier Wednesday.

Simmons agreed to a 10-day contract with the Raptors on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Simmons will join Toronto's 15-man roster as a replacement for Jahmi'us Ramsey, whose second 10-day deal expired Sunday. While spending all season with Toronto's G League affiliate, Raptors 905, Simmons has averaged 15.9 points, 4.9 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 31.6 minutes per game over 23 appearances. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard could crack the Raptors' backcourt rotation for Monday's game versus the Nets if one or both of Immanuel Quickley (personal) and D.J. Carton (ankle) remain sidelined.

The Hornets waived Simmons on Wednesday. Simmons appeared in the final five games for Charlotte last year, marking his first NBA appearance since 2018-19. However, after drafting Nick Smith (undisclosed) and Brandon Miller, there wasn't any room for Simmons. The Arizona product will likely have to settle for a G League deal or may head overseas again.

Simmons concluded his third season with averages of 1.0 points, 1.0 assists, 0.8 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 5.6 minutes per game across five contests. After signing with the team March 29, Simmons appeared in very limited fashion over the last five games of the season. The 25-year-old was a steady contributor during his limited opportunities, but he struggled to find his shot, making just one of six attempts from the field on the year. Simmons has struggled to find his footing in the NBA since his rookie season back in 2017, and it will be challenging to find a spot with the Hornets, who have plenty of guard depth.

Simmons logged one rebound and one block over two minutes during Friday's 112-109 loss to the Rockets. Simmons was in the rotation for the fourth straight game Friday, although he logged just two minutes. While it is nice to see guys like Simmons getting onto the court, there is obviously nothing to see here in terms of fantasy news.
