The Spurs announced Tuesday that Sochan suffered a fracture in the proximal phalanx of his left thumb during Monday's game against the Clippers. Sochan is scheduled to undergo surgery this week, and the team will provide updates as appropriate, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports. While the Spurs have yet to give an official return timetable for Sochan, fantasy managers can expect him to be sidelined for a significant period. The 21-year-old forward was in the midst of a breakout campaign, averaging 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals on 51.2 percent shooting from the field in 29.3 minutes across seven appearances before suffering his injury. Until Sochan is able to return, Keldon Johnson, Stephon Castle and Julian Champagnie are all candidates to receive increased playing time.

Sochan (thumb) will not return during Monday's game against the Clippers, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Sochan totaled four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 12 minutes before leaving due to a thumb injury. With the 21-year-old forward out, Zach Collins and Keldon Johnson are candidates for an increased role the rest of the way.

Sochan supplied 22 points (9-19 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and one block over 34 minutes during Monday's 106-101 loss to Houston. Sochan scored at least 17 points for the third straight game to open the season, continuing his impressive start. Now back in his preferred position, power forward, Sochan has been easily the most consistent player on the Spurs' roster. He was typically available late in drafts, and at this point, it appears he could be a great risk vs. reward option.

Sochan totaled 17 points (8-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals across 37 minutes during Saturday's 109-106 victory over the Rockets. Sochan was efficient from the floor and made his presence felt on the glass, constantly winning rebounding battles against the likes of Jabari Smith and Alperen Sengun en route to his first double-double of the season. Sochan has surpassed the 15-point mark in his first two appearances of 2024-25 and looks comfortable operating as the Spurs' second offensive option behind Victor Wembanyama in the absence of Devin Vassell (foot). That new-found role on offense should increase Sochan's fantasy upside in the short term.

Sochan will sit out Thursday's preseason game against the Rockets, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Sochan will sit out San Antonio's preseason finale for rest purposes alongside Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul and Keldon Johnson. All of these players should be available for the team's regular-season opener against the Mavericks on Oct. 24.
