Dieng's fouth-year rookie option was exercised by Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Dieng is now under contract with the Thunder through the 2025-26 season. The 6-foot-9 combo-forward is likely too raw to relevantly contribute to Oklahoma City's rotation in the upcoming campaign, but the 21-year-old remains a toolsy and versatile developmental case to monitor.

Dieng delivered 20 points (7-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds, nine assists and two blocks across 37 minutes in Thursday's 117-89 preseason win over the New Zealand Breakers. Dieng has made over 30 appearances for the Thunder in each of his first two seasons in the NBA, and he continues to grow as a player after being one of the youngest players selected in the 2022 NBA Draft. Dieng isn't expected to play a prominent role for the Thunder once the regular season begins in late October. However, he might get an extra look during the Thunder's final two preseason contests.

Dieng won't start Wednesday's preseason game against the Rockets, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports. With Luguentz Dort and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander resting, Dieng started the preseason opener against the Spurs on Monday. He posted two points, six rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes.

Dieng logged 17 points (7-20 FG, 3-10 3Pt), eight assists, four rebounds and four blocks across 32 minutes in Wednesday's 80-77 win over the Grizzlies in the Summer League. While Dieng led the Thunder in points and assists, he wasn't able to do so efficiently, turning the ball over six times and taking 20 shots. He'll exit Salt Lake City averaging 16.7 points on 34.6 percent shooting along with 5.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists across three games.

The Thunder recalled Dieng from the G League's Oklahoma City Blue on Tuesday, Andrew Schlecht of The Athletic reports. Dieng had a monster outing for the Blue in Monday's 117-100 win over the Maine Celtics in Game 3 of the G League Finals, totaling 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 34 minutes to help lead his side to a G League championship. With the G League season now over, Dieng will rejoin the Thunder for the start of its playoff run, which is set to begin this weekend. The second-year forward isn't expected to be a regular part of Oklahoma City's rotation during the postseason.
