  Reed closed with zero points (0-1 FG) and two rebounds over two minutes during Tuesday's 123-103 victory over the Wizards. Reed left the bench for the first time in the past four games, continuing his disappointing season. Despite his per-minute abilities, Reed is firmly placed behind both Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart as the third-string center. Given Reed has played a grand total of just 38 minutes over the past nine games, there is no reason to think he will be challenging either player for his spot in the rotation.

  Reed racked up two points (2-2 FT) and two rebounds across four minutes during Saturday's 115-94 victory over the Nets. Reed continues to play very limited minutes off the bench, having played fewer than 10 minutes in 11 of the past 14 games, failing to touch the floor in five of those. With Jalen Duren playing the best basketball of his young career, Reed is simply an emergency option, if and when Isaiah Stewart is struggling as the backup center.

  Reed posted seven points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across eight minutes during Wednesday's 118-115 loss to the Cavaliers. Reed played a team-low minutes total Wednesday but made the most of his time on the floor by finishing as one of two Pistons bench players with at least five points and five rebounds. Reed has hauled in six or more boards in four contests, adding at least seven points in three of those outings.

  Reed recorded no counting stats in one minute during Saturday's 121-113 loss to Orlando. Reed was a non-factor in the loss, playing fewer than 10 minutes for the sixth straight game. With both Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart healthy, Reed's role has evaporated in recent times. He is no longer an every-night part of the rotation, something that will only change should those ahead of him be forced to miss time.

• Pistons' Paul Reed: Back with Detroit

  The Pistons re-signed Reed to a one-year contract Monday, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. Detroit waived Reed on Saturday, after he had appeared in 12 of the club's first 26 games while averaging 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds over 10.3 minutes per game. He was in the midst of the second season of a three-year, $25.56 million deal, but the Pistons were unwilling to keep him on board with his current contract since he would have been fully guaranteed $7.7 million in salary for 2025-26 had he remained on the roster through January. After Reed cleared waivers, the Pistons elected to bring him back at a more palatable salary figure for a third-string center. He'll become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.
