Highsmith and the Heat agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal Monday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Wojnarowski reports that Highsmith received significant interest around the NBA, but the forward chose to remain with the team that developed him into the player he is today. Highsmith made 66 appearances during the 2023-24 regular season, posting averages of 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He's likely to be a fringe rotation player for the Heat during the upcoming season.

Highsmith posted nine points (4-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block across 28 minutes in Wednesday's 105-104 Play-In Game loss to the 76ers. Highsmith has seen an increase in both playing time and production in April, when he averaged 7.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.7 minutes. This is a significant improvement from March, where the 27-year-old averaged 5.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.3 steals in 16.7 minutes. With Jimmy Butler (knee) out for Friday's matchup against the Bulls, Highsmith is expected to garner an uptick in playing time behind Jaime Jaquez.

Highsmith produced 20 points (7-9 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 1-3 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one steal over 28 minutes off the bench during Friday's 142-82 win over the Trail Blazers. It's the best scoring performance of the season for Highsmith, but the 27-year-old forward has been seeing big minutes off the wing for the Heat of late. He's played at least 22 minutes in five of the last six games, starting one of them, and over the last three he has averaged 27.7 minutes, 17.7 points, 5.7 boards, 4.0 threes, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting an absurd 76.9 percent from the floor and 92.3 percent (12-for-13) from long distance.

Highsmith closed with 18 points (7-10 FG, 4-4 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one steal over 25 minutes during Sunday's 121-84 win over the Cavaliers. With 18 points on the night, Highsmith finished one point shy of his season-best mark. This certainly appears to be an outlier performance, however, as he's averaging a mere 3.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in March.
-
Highsmith isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cavaliers. Highsmith will be replaced by Nikola Jovic in the starting five Wednesday. Highsmith is averaging 3.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 11.5 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
