  • Okoro closed Wednesday's 136-106 win over Toronto with three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one block in 19 minutes. Despite starting 42 of his 69 regular-season appearances in 2023-24, Okoro was relegated to a bench role on Opening Night. Even with Max Strus (ankle) set to miss at least six weeks of action, Dean Wade drew the start at small forward. If Okoro continues to fail to crack 20 minutes of playing time, it will be hard for him to generate significant fantasy value.

  • Okoro is in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Pacers. Okoro will start at small forward since the Cavaliers are resting several regulars, including Max Strus, who's dealing with a minor hip injury. It seems the battle between Strus and Okoro to see who opens the season as the starting small forward is the only positional battle to watch in the Cavaliers' camp. Okoro signed a three-year, $38 million contract in September to stay in Cleveland.

  • The Cavaliers re-signed Okoro to a three-year, $38 million contract Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Okoro was a restricted free agent but is now set to stay in Cleveland for at least three more years. In 2023-24, he averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 27.3 minutes across 69 regular-season appearances, including 42 starts. Next season, he should continue to battle for a starting job with Max Strus.

  • Okoro will start Sunday's Game 7 against the Magic, Serena Winters of Bally Sports Cleveland reports. With Jarrett Allen (hip) out, Okoro started Cleveland's Game 5 win and posted eight points (2-10 FG), four rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes. Okoro was replaced in the starting lineup by Marcus Morris for Game 6, but coach J.B. Bickerstaff has flipped them again ahead of Game 7. As a starter this season (43 games), Okoro has averaged 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals-plus-blocks in 30.1 minutes per game.
