Brooks (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Colts. Brooks has been plagued by injuries of late. He was on injured reserve with a chest injury earlier in the season, and he will now be forced to the sidelines again after suiting up for two games. Justin Reid should return after a one-game absence to take over the majority of snaps at free safety.

Brooks agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Texans on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The 29-year-old appeared in 14 games for the Patriots in 2020 and received two starts, but he primarily had a rotational defensive role while also working on special teams. Brooks is likely to fill a similar role for the Texans.

Brooks has an early lead to win New England's starting strong safety gig, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports. Brooks has been the last man standing at strong safety as of late, with Adrian Phillips having missed several days of practice and rookie second-round pick Kyle Dugger having been limited. The sixth-year veteran has only started one game in his career, but he is coming off a career-best 2019 campaign with New England, and the starting spot is wide open in the wake of Patrick Chung opting out for 2020.

Brooks (groin) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice. Brooks missed Week 17's loss to the Dolphins after hitting the injury report the Friday prior to the game. His return for the first practice of the week suggests he has a shot to play in Saturday's Wild Card matchup against Tennessee.
-
Brooks (groin) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against Miami. Brooks was a late addition to the injury report Friday after practicing in a limited fashion and, as evidenced by this news, couldn't shake the groin issue. With Brooks sidelined, Duron Harmon and Nate Ebner appear in line to see a slight uptick in snaps.
