  • Buckner (neck) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the 49ers. Buckner began Week 16 with two consecutive full practices, but he was a non-participant during Saturday's session. In order to suit up Monday, he will first need to be activated from IR by Indianapolis. Head coach Shane Steichen has stated that he expects Buckner to be available for Monday night's matchup.

  • Buckner (neck) had his 21-day practice window opened Wednesday, Mike Chappell of FOX 59/CBS 4 Sports reports. Buckner will be a limited participant at practice Wednesday, per Stephen Holder of ESPN.com. The defensive tackle has been on injured reserve since Nov. 7. The Colts have 21 days to add Buckner back to the active roster, and such a move could transpire prior to Sunday's game against the Seahawks, though he would presumably need to upgrade to full practice participation without any setbacks first.

  • Head coach Shane Steichen said Friday that he's optimistic Buckner (neck) will return during the 2025 season, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Buckner has been on injured reserve since Nov. 7 due to a neck injury, but he has been in the building with teammates as the veteran defensive tackle works his way back from the injury. The earliest Buckner will be eligible to return is Dec. 14 against the Seahawks in Week 15.

  • Buckner received regenerative stem cell treatment to address the neck injury that landed him on injured reserve Nov. 7, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Buckner traveled to Panama to undergo the treatment as the veteran defensive tackle aims to return during the 2025 season. The earliest he can return from injured reserve is Week 15 against the Seahawks on Sunday, Dec. 14, but the 2016 first-rounder does not have an established timeline for a return. Adetomiwa Adebawore made his first start of the season in Week 10 against the Falcons, and he should continue to see increased work with the first-team defense for as long as Buckner is sidelined.

  • Colts coach Shane Steichen said Monday that the team is " very hopeful" that Buckner (neck, IR) will retake the field this season but added he remains without a timetable to return, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Indianapolis placed Buckner on IR on Nov. 7, meaning his earliest possible return date would be Sunday, Dec. 14 versus the Seahawks in Week 15. Based on Steichen's comments, however, it sounds like Buckner could require more time on the sideline than the minimum four games mandated by his placement on IR. Neville Gallimore has stepped into an expanded defensive role with Buckner out, though he tallied just one assisted tackle during the Colts' win over the Falcons on Sunday.
