• DeMarcus Walker: Cut by Chicago

  The Bears released Walker on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Walker started in all 17 regular-season games for the Bears in 2024 and finished with 3.5 sacks and a career-high 47 combined tackles. He had one year left on his three-year, $21 million contract that he signed in March of 2023, but the Bears have freed up an extra $10.75 million of salary cap space by cutting Walker, per Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times. Now entering the offseason as a free agent, Walker should receive plenty of interest from teams looking for a veteran upgrade to the defensive line.

  Walker recorded two tackles (one solo) in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday. Walker had never posted more than 32 tackles in any of his first seven years in the league, but he shattered that total with a 47-tackle output in 17 games this season. Also, the defensive end recorded 3.5 sacks for the second year in a row, which represented a decline from the 4.4 sacks Walker averaged from 2019-2022. He's signed with the Bears through 2026.

  Walker tallied five tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional QB hit, in the Bears' 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Although this was the second consecutive game in which Walker recorded a sack, this was the first time since Week 8 the veteran posted more than three tackles. Unless Walker can post improved tackle totals with some consistency, he'll remain a sack-dependent IDP.

Walker collected his first sack since Week 6, and he now has 2.5 sacks this season. the veteran has three or fewer tackles in six games this season, making him a low-floor IDP with occasional upside games.

  Walker (groin) is active for Sunday's matchup with the Texans. Walker has been battling a groin injury over the last couple weeks, but he'll be able to play through it for the second consecutive game. The defensive end recorded a solo tackle in Week 1 versus the Titans and he'll be back in his starting role on Chicago's defensive line.
