The Vikings signed Fumagalli to their practice squad Wednesday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports. Fumagalli was released from San Francisco's practice squad in September but will now get another opportunity with the Vikings. The 2018 fifth-round pick has not appeared in a regular season game since 2020 where he played in eight games for the Broncos.

The 49ers signed Fumagalli to their practice squad Wednesday. A 2018 fifth-round pick by Denver, Fumagalli has struggled to stay on active rosters. The Wisconsin product appeared in 19 games from 2019 to 2020, totaling 14 catches for 118 yards and two scores, but he hasn't played in a regular-season game since. The 49ers have one of the better tight end corps in the NFL, so Fumagalli likely won't get many chances in 2023.

He was competing to provide depth at the position, as well as contribute on special teams. The 28-year-old is now set to look for a new opportunity, unless San Francisco decides to offer him a role on its practice squad.

Fumagalli and the 49ers agreed on a one-year contract Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Fumagalli was cut from the 49ers' practice squad in November, but he'll now return to the organization ahead of the 2023 campaign. The tight end hasn't appeared in a game since 2020, when he participated in eight contests with the Broncos, catching eight passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
