Muhammad had his suspension lifted Wednesday for violating the NFL's policy against performance-enhancing substances, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Muhammad was suspended for six games, dating back to last December. The 29-year-old joined the Cowboys on Aug. 1 but was later released on Aug. 29 ahead of their season opener against the Browns. It wouldn't be surprising if he ended up back in Dallas now that he is eligible to play, but he may have other opportunities as well.

Muhammad was one of multiple players given a workout Thursday as Dallas looked to bolster its pass rush depth after Sam Williams tore his ACL on Saturday. The 2017 sixth-round pick last saw NFL action in 2022 with the Bears, when he recorded 29 combined tackles, including 1.0 sacks, on 585 defensive snaps.

The Cowboys are inviting Muhammad for a work out Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Muhammad and other pass rushers -- including Carl Lawson -- are working out with the Cowboys after Sam Williams tore his ACL during Sunday's practice session. Muhammad began the 2023 season with the Colts' practice squad. He did not play a single snap after he was handed a six-game suspension Dec. 6 for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Muhammad's last full season came with the Bears in 2022, when he recorded 29 tackles (15 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble across 16 regular-season games.

He last played in 2022 for the Bears, when he accumulated 29 tackles (15 solo), including one sack, and one forced fumble over 16 games.
