  The Commanders signed Edmonds from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday. Edmonds will provide depth in a Washington backfield that also includes Chris Rodriguez, Jeremy McNichols and Jacory Croskey-Merritt. He was previously elevated from the practice squad by the Commanders to play Week 11, a game against the Dolphins in which Edmonds did not play on offense but handled seven snaps on special teams.

  Edmonds reverted to the Commanders' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Edmonds didn't see a snap on offense as he operated as the Commanders' RB4 behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols during Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. However, Edmonds did play seven snaps on special teams and returned four kickoffs for 93 yards. The Commanders are on a bye Week 12, but Edmonds could be elevated to the active roster for Week 13 against Denver on Sunday, Nov. 30 if Washington needs a returner on kickoffs and punts.

  The Commanders elevated Edmonds from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. Edmonds joined the Commanders' practice squad in mid-September, and he'll be available for Sunday's game against the Dolphins in Spain to provide additional backfield depth behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols. Edmonds missed the entire 2024 season due to a knee injury and last saw regular-season action in 2023 with the Buccaneers, when he turned 49 carries into 176 yards and caught 14 passes (on 17 targets) for 81 yards across 13 regular-season games.

Edmonds missed all of Tampa Bay's 2024 campaign due to a knee injury, but signing with the Commanders' practice squad Monday suggests he's moved past the issue. The 2018 fourth-round pick from Fordham last played with the Buccaneers in 2023, rushing 49 times for 176 yards while catching 14 passes for 81 yards across 13 regular-season contests. Edmonds' signing provides organizational depth at running back for a Commanders squad that just lost Austin Ekeler (Achilles) for the remainder of the season.

  Edmonds was placed on season-ending injured reserve Monday due to a knee injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. The 28-year-old RB won't be designated for a return, meaning the only way he can play this season is if he reaches an injury settlement to be released by Tampa Bay. Edmonds hasn't practiced since the first week of training camp and recently had arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee.
