Campbell signed with the Eagles' practice squad Wednesday. Campbell was let go from Philadelphia's active roster Tuesday, but he'll now stay with the franchise as a member of its practice squad. The Ohio State product has appeared in four games this season, while A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith tended to injuries, and made six catches on seven targets for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Philadelphia cut Campbell on Tuesday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Just 10 days after signing onto the Eagles' active roster, Campbell is now back on the outside looking in. The transaction could be a signal that rookie fifth-rounder Ainias Smith is close to returning from his stint on injured reserve.

The Eagles signed Campbell to their 53-man roster Saturday. Campbell had already been elevated from the practice squad three times this season, so Philadelphia was required to sign him to the active roster in order for the speedy wideout to play Sunday versus Cleveland. The 27-year-old has been playing a significant role in the Eagles' offense in recent games due to the absences of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and in Week 4 he logged a season-high 84 percent of the team's offensive snaps. Campbell probably won't play that much in Week 6 with both Brown and Smith slated to return, but he could remain on the roster as a depth receiver for the remainder of the campaign.

Campbell reverted to the Eagles' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. With both A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) sidelined Week 4, Campbell earned his biggest workload of the season yet Sunday at Tampa Bay, finishing second among Eagles wide receivers behind Jahan Dotson (49 snaps) with 48 of 57 offensive snaps. Campbell paced the position group with four catches (on four targets), which he turned into 17 yards and one touchdown. Philadelphia has a Week 5 bye, giving Brown and Smith time in their respective recoveries to get healthy before the team's next game Sunday, Oct. 13 against the Browns. The Eagles also have used three elevations on Campbell, meaning he must be signed to the active roster in order to contribute Week 6 and beyond.

Campbell brought in all four targets for 17 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 33-16 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. Campbell finished with the second-most receptions and tied for the second-most targets on an afternoon in which A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) were sidelined. The veteran also was on the receiving end of Jalen Hurts' only touchdown pass, hauling in his first scoring grab since Week 10 of the 2022 season on a one-yard catch late in the second quarter. Campbell was elevated from the practice squad for the contest due to the absences of Brown and Smith, but with the duo likely to get healthy over a Week 5 bye, Campbell may not be on the active roster for a Week 6 home matchup against the Browns on Sunday, Oct. 13.
