The Cardinals placed Mack (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. While running into the right flat at Tuesday's practice, Mack attempted to haul in a pass and lost his footing. He required assistance to get to the locker room, and after undergoing tests, he was revealed Wednesday to have sustained a torn left Achilles. He previously tore his right Achilles in the 2020 season opener, which kept him sidelined until Week 2 of the 2021 campaign. Considering the nature of the current health concern, Mack will miss the upcoming campaign, leaving Keaontay Ingram (abdomen), Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams and Emari Demercado as the Cardinals' reserve running backs behind No. 1 option James Conner.

Mack sustained a torn left Achilles' tendon during practice Tuesday, Dani Sureck of the Cardinals' official site reports. Mack had just signed with Arizona on Friday, but his hopes of playing in the NFL this season are effectively over. The 27-year-old previously suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon in Week 1 of the 2020 campaign, and he's struggled to find a consistent role in the league ever since. Mack will now work to get healthy, although it's unclear what his future may hold heading into the 2024 season.

Mack departed Tuesday's practice due to a left leg injury, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports. Mack sustained the injury during 7-on-7 drills when he appeared to lose his footing. Tuesday's session marked his third since joining the Cardinals last Friday. With Keaontay Ingram also tending to an abdominal injury, Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams and Emari Demercado are the team's healthy running backs behind starter James Conner.

The Cardinals signed Mack to a one-year contract Friday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. After spending the first five years of his career with the Colts, the 2017 fourth-round pick split time between the 49ers and Broncos in 2022, ultimately turning 24 touches into 183 yards and two touchdowns in eight appearances. He ended last season on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, but following a workout with the Cardinals on Thursday, he's a member of the team one day later. Arizona could use some RB depth in the preseason with starter James Conner unlikely to see much, if any, action. Plus, top backup Keaontay Ingram currently is dealing with an unknown injury, leaving Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams, Mack and Emari Demercado as the other healthy options.

Mack had a workout with Arizona on Thursday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports. After spending his first five seasons with the Colts, Mack played six games for the Broncos in the 2022 season and two with the 49ers. The latter placed him on injured reserve in January due to a hamstring injury. His workout with the Cardinals indicates his health is back up to par. There are currently five running backs on Arizona's roster, so it remains to be seen if he will get an opportunity.
