  • Cardinals' Josh Sweat: Ruled out Sunday
    By RotoWire

Sweat (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game versus the Falcons. Sweat briefly returned to the game after sustaining an ankle injury in the first half but is now officially done for the day. In his absence, Jordan Burch and Dante Stills should see increased playing time during the remainder of the matchup.

  • Sweat (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against Atlanta, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Sweat was hurt early in the first quarter and left the field with trainers. He's since been deemed questionable to return. Sweat has been a central part of the Cardinals' pass rush with 11.0 sacks on the season, which has tied his career-high mark.

  • Sweat recorded four tackles (three solo) including 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble during Sunday's 20-17 loss at Tampa Bay. Sweat's second sack of the afternoon Sunday came at the end of the first quarter, when he slapped down the hands of veteran guard Dan Feeney on his way to Baker Mayfield on third down, forcing a Tampa Bay punt. He's now tied for fourth in the league in sacks (11.0) going into a Week 14 tilt versus the Rams.

  • Sweat (eye) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. Sweat missed Wednesday's practice with an eye injury, one he sustained and played through in last Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. The upgrade to full participation means the starting defensive end is likely good to go for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

  • Sweat recorded one tackle (which was a full sack), one forced fumble and one recovered fumble in Sunday's loss to Seattle. All of Sweat's statistical output came on one play in the third quarter when he sacked Sam Darnold, forcing the QB to fumble in Seattle territory. Sweat recovered the ball himself, but the Cardinals turned the ball over on downs on their subsequent drive. Sweat is up to 8.0 sacks through nine contests, matching the total he recorded over 16 games last year.
