New Orleans also added a first-round wideout in rookie Jordyn Tyson (undisclosed), further muddying the target share picture. While Johnson's role in the passing game is secure, matching last year's volume of a career-high 103 targets and 77 receptions will likely be a tough ask.

Johnson and the Saints agreed to terms on a contract restructure Friday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Johnson's restructure converts part of his base salary into a signing bonus, freeing up $6.29 million in cap space for the team. The veteran tight end enjoyed a career year in head coach Kellen Moore's offense in 2025 and flashed reliable rapport with quarterback Tyler Shough, totaling a career-best 77-889-3 receiving line (103 targets) while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games. Looking ahead to the 2026 campaign, Johnson projects as a high-floor fantasy option and fair candidate to outperform his ADP.

Johnson secured three of five targets for 61 yards in the Saints' 19-17 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. He also lost a fumble. The veteran tight end led the Saints in receiving yards while also securing a team-high 28-yard grab. Johnson had an opportunity for extra targets due to the absences of both Chris Olave (illness) and Mason Tipton (IR, groin), but Tyler Shough ended up spreading the ball around to seven different pass catchers overall. Johnson finished the 2025 season with a career-best 77 receptions and 889 receiving yards, and he totaled three touchdowns for the second consecutive season. Given the rapport Johnson flashed with Shough over the second half of the season, the former will head into 2026 with a very encouraging fantasy outlook

Johnson has been great in the past two games since Devaughn Vele (shoulder) went on injured reserve, and now Chris Olave (illness) is out in Week 18. In his past two outings against the Jets and Titans, Johnson combined for 12 catches for 184 yards on 13 targets, and he scored at least 13.5 PPR points in each contest. He had a solid game against Atlanta in Week 12 with six catches for 46 yards on seven targets, and the Falcons have allowed three tight ends in the past two games to score at least 11.3 PPR points. Johnson should be considered a top-five Fantasy tight end in Week 18.

Johnson brought in all four targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' 34-26 win over the Titans on Sunday. Johnson tied for second in receptions while checking in as the runner-up in receiving yards as well for the Saints, continuing a multi-week run of productive performances. The veteran tight end has at least four receptions in seven straight games, and he's recorded at least 89 receiving yards in three of those contests. Johnson heads into a Week 18 road matchup against the Falcons already boasting a career-high 74 catches and 828 receiving yards across 16 games.
