Taylor was on the field for three offensive snaps (six percent) and did not record a touch in Thursday's 12-6 loss to the Rams. Taylor had an outside chance of starting Thursday's contest after fill-in starter Issac Guerendo missed multiple practices with a foot injury. The latter got a limited session in Wednesday before ultimately starting and logging 16 carries for 57 yards in the loss. Taylor did not record a touch while spending most of his night on special teams (17 snaps). With a few extra days of rest between Thursday's loss and next Sunday's tilt against Miami, Guerendo figures to start again for the 6-8 49ers in Week 16.

Taylor may not start Thursday versus the Rams with Isaac Guerendo (foot) active for the contest. If Guerendo wasn't able to play Week 15, Taylor was lined up to be the 49ers' primary runner for at least one game. Having said that, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic, Guerendo felt good following Wednesday's limited practice, which was enough for the team to clear him. Taylor likely will cede a majority share of touches if Guerendo indeed is able to start, but the former still will be in the mix for snaps along with practice-squad call-up Ke'Shawn Vaughn. In nine appearances this season, Taylor has tallied 14 carries for 50 yards and one TD and gathered in one of two targets for 12 yards.

The short week means Isaac Guerendo may not be able to go this week, even though he said he felt good after the 49ers Week 14 win. That makes Taylor a must-add, I just don't feel great about starting him. The upside is obvious, Jordan Mason, Christian McCaffrey, and Isaac Guerendo have all been must-starts this year. But Taylor isn't as explosive as those backs, doesn't have a great pass-catching profile, and hasn't ever been close to a workhorse back. If your waivers run Wednesday night and Guerendo is ruled out, then Taylor moves up to the number two waiver priority.

Taylor rushed seven times for 25 yards and a touchdown while failing to pull in his lone target in Sunday's 38-13 win over Chicago. Fill-in starter Isaac Guerendo (foot) went down late in Sunday's win with a lower-body injury, affording Taylor the opportunity to score his first touchdown as a member of the 49ers. Guerendo's injury was speculated to be a foot sprain by the coaching staff, but there will likely be a clearer picture painted early in the upcoming practice week. Taylor would stand to gain the most fantasy value as the next man up should Guerendo be forced to miss any time. With a short week on tap ahead of Thursday's tilt against the Rams, Taylor should be the hot add on waivers a week after Guerendo (who scored twice Sunday) had fantasy managers scrambling to acquire him.

The 49ers signed Taylor off their practice squad Wednesday. Taylor's promotion comes as no surprise after the 49ers lost Christian McCaffrey to a knee injury and Jordan Mason to an ankle injury, temporarily leaving rookie Isaac Guerendo as the only healthy running back on the active roster. Guerendo should step in as the lead runner, but Taylor may get a decent chunk of the playing time, especially on passing downs. The 49ers also added Israel Abanikanda via waivers this week, while Ke'Shawn Vaughn is a new addition to the practice squad who could be elevated ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears if the 49ers want a fourth option out of the backfield.
