Mattison rushed nine times for 36 yards in the Raiders' 41-24 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. Mattison once again led the Raiders' backfield in carries, outpacing Zamir White, who did score a rushing touchdown, by three attempts overall. Neither back was targeted in the passing game, and the non-fantasy-friendly pecking order is likely to persist through a Week 10 bye and into a Week 11 road matchup against the Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 17.

I'm hopeful Mattison keeps the lead role for the Raiders, but coach Antonio Pierce said Wednesday that he wants to get Zamir White more involved heading into Week 9 at Cincinnati. That's disappointing for Mattison, who has scored at least 15.3 PPR points in two of his past three games, and he has 13 catches on 13 targets over that span. I'm still willing to use Mattison as a low-end starter or flex in all leagues, and the Bengals have allowed a running back to score a touchdown or gain at least 100 total yards in every game this season.

Head coach Antonio Pierce said Wednesday that Mattison remains the team's starting running back, but Pierce also wants to get Zamir White more involved, Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official site reports. Mattison started the last four games and took at least 57 percent of snaps and at least 17 touches in each contest, averaging 16.5 carries for 44.5 yards (2.7 YPC) and 3.8 catches for 28.8 yards (7.2 YPT) while scoring one touchdown. The volume has made him a reasonable fantasy starter, at least in PPR leagues, but his struggles on the ground seemingly open the door for White to take on a significant role again, possibly as soon as this Sunday at Cincinnati.

Mattison rushed the ball 14 times for 15 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs. He added five receptions on five targets for 29 yards. Mattison was the only Raider to record more than two carries, but he didn't do anything to earn the continued opportunity. His longest rush went for just five yards, and four of his 14 carries went for zero or negative yards. Mattison did manage to salvage his day as a receiver, as he tied for second on the team with five targets. Zamir White saw only two carries and totaled -1 yards, though it wouldn't be surprising to see the Raiders mix up their running back usage in Week 9 against the Bengals.

Mattison was excellent in Week 7 at the Rams with 23 carries for 92 yards and three catches for 31 yards on three targets, and he scored 15.3 PPR points. He also scored 17.5 PPR points in Week 6, and he's worth using as a flex option in most weeks. But it will be tough to trust him in Week 8 against the Chiefs, who are No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. No running back has gained more than 58 rushing yards against Kansas City, including matchups with Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, J.K. Dobbins, Alvin Kamara and Jordan Mason. I would avoid Mattison in most lineups in Week 8.
