The Jets cut Williams from the practice squad Tuesday, Susanna Weir of the team's official site reports. The move makes room on the Jets' practice squad for fellow wide receiver Trenton Irwin. Williams joined the Jets' practice squad Oct. 3 and was elevated for Week 5 loss to the Cowboys, when he returned five kickoffs for 133 yards and four punts for 41 yards across 12 snaps on special teams. Williams should garner interest from teams looking for another return option on special teams.

Williams reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Williams played 12 snaps on special teams as a returner during Sunday's 40-6 loss against the Colts, and he made the most of his opportunity by logging 133 yards on five kickoff returns and 41 yards on four punt returns. It marked the first time Williams had been elevated to the Jets' active roster this season, and he could reprise his return role on special teams for Week 6 against the Broncos if Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) is unable to play.

The Jets elevated Williams from the practice squad Saturday. Williams will give the Jets another option on kickoff and punt returns after Isaiah Williams lost a fumble in the role last Monday night and was subsequently cut Saturday.

Williams was released by the Eagles on Tuesday. Williams operated exclusively as a return-specialist during the preseason, returning two kickoffs for 49 yards, while also adding 26 yards on four punt returns. The wide receiver played in all 17 regular-season games over each of the last two seasons with the Falcons, and he will likely not have to wait long for another opportunity ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Williams signed a contract with the Eagles on Friday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports. Williams was limited to return duties with the Falcons in 2024, finishing the regular season with 408 kick-return yards and 185 punt-return yards across 17 games. He'll likely share those responsibilities with Cooper DeJean in Philadelphia, but Williams will have a chance to compete with Will Shipley and AJ Dillon for backup duties out of the backfield behind Saquon Barkley.
