Kansas City signed Oladokun to the practice squad Tuesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Oladokun takes the practice squad spot left by Bailey Zappe, who signed with Cleveland on Tuesday. A 2022 seventh-round pick who is still looking for a chance to make his regular-season debut, Oladokun worked as the Chiefs' practice squad quarterback last season and is familiar with the system.

Oladokun was waived by the Chiefs on Tuesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Oladokun served as a practice-squad quarterback for Kansas City last season and is a likely candidate to do so again in 2024 after not making the 53-man roster.

The Chiefs reverted Oladokun to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Oladokun was called up for the Chiefs' regular-season finale against the Chargers with Patrick Mahomes (ankle) sitting out for the contest. Oladokun served as the backup to Blaine Gabbert but didn't see the field.

The Chiefs signed Oladokun to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Oladokun spend the 2022 season on Kansas City's practice squad, but he wasn't ultimately called up for in-game action. With longtime backup Chad Henne having announced his retirement, however, Oladokun could potentially have an opportunity to compete for an elevated role this offseason.

The Steelers selected Oladokun in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 241st overall. The Steelers found their quarterback of the future in the first round with Kenny Pickett, but they're hoping to develop Oladokun -- who spent time at South Florida and Samford before settling in at South Dakota State as a sixth-year senior -- into a suitable backup. Oladokun maneuvers well in and out of the pocket, and he possesses a quick release that helps when he's throwing off base or in the face of pressure. He finished with 3,164 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions at SDSU, adding 73 carries for 166 yards and two scores on the ground. Oladokun will be 25 years old when the season starts and will likely battle Mason Rudolph for the No. 3 role behind Pickett and Mitch Trubisky.
