• Texans' Jayden Higgins: Sent to injured reserve

  08/21/2026 • By RotoWire

The Texans placed Higgins (knee) on injured reserve Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. It officially ends Higgins' 2026 season before it even got started after he suffered a torn ACL in practice earlier this week. It's a huge blow to the Houston offense, as Higgins was fully expected to handle WR2 duties opposite Nico Collins this season. The Texans will now turn to some combination of Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel (hamstring/finger) and Tank Dell (knee), though they've also checked in on available wideouts around the league, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Higgins will rehab throughout the season and should be ready well ahead of Week 1 of the 2027 campaign.

Higgins needed help getting to his feet after he was shaken up during Tuesday's practice, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports. On the plus side, the wideout walked off on his own power. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Higgins subsequently headed off the field to get checked out by team medical personnel. Afterward, coach DeMeco Ryans noted that he didn't have an immediate update on his status, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Higgins did not play in Thursday's 27-7 preseason loss to the Chargers. Higgins was joined by Nico Collins, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell (knee) on the sidelines for Thursday's preseason game, while fourth-year wideout Xavier Hutchinson, Justin Watson and Jared Wayne served as the Texans' three starting wideouts. Higgins is coming off a solid rookie campaign, when he caught 41 passes (on 68 targets) for 525 yards and six touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. He's positioned as the clear WR2 for the Texans behind Collins while Hutchinson, Noel and Dell provide depth at the position.

• Texans' Jayden Higgins: Drawing praise as WR2

  06/24/2026 • By RotoWire

Higgins has consistently drawn praise throughout spring activities as the team's No. 2 wide receiver behind Nico Collins, Jared Koch of SI.com reports. The No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft posted a 41-525-6 receiving line on 68 targets across 17 games as a rookie and appears positioned for a Year 2 leap. Koch reports that Higgins stands as the clear No. 2 receiver on Houston's depth chart ahead of training camp, a role that could benefit from the team's upgraded offensive line and the departure of Christian Kirk to San Francisco. Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel remain in the mix behind Collins and Higgins, while Tank Dell (knee) is expected to return at some point during the 2026 season.

• Texans' Jayden Higgins: Catches one pass in victory

Higgins caught one of three targets for 17 yards in the Texans' 23-21 win over the Raiders on Sunday. Higgins' three targets tied for fifth on the team, and the rookie has now managed just two catches for 21 scoreless yards on four targets across the last two contests. Higgins hasn't shown much of a fantasy ceiling in a passing offense that also includes Nico Collins, Dalton Schultz and Christian Kirk. Higgins won't be a recommended fantasy starter next Saturday against the Chargers' tough pass defense.
