Peoples-Jones was released by the Saints on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Peoples-Jones was let go one day after the Saints traded for fellow wide receiver Devaughn Vele. Peoples-Jones last suited up for a regular-season NFL game in 2023 with the Lions. He had 839 receiving yards with the Browns in 2022.

Peoples-Jones agreed to terms Monday on a contract with New Orleans, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports. Peoples-Jones spent time on the Lions' practice squad in 2024, but he hasn't logged a regular-season appearance since 2023, when he suited up for eight games with Detroit. Top wideouts Chris Olave (concussion), Rashid Shaheed (knee), Brandin Cooks and Bub Means all missed time due to injuries last season, making wide receiver depth a key area of need for the Saints. In the wake of Derek Carr (shoulder) retiring, Peoples-Jones will have the opportunity to build chemistry with all of Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener.

The Lions signed Peoples-Jones to the practice squad Thursday. Peoples-Jones didn't manage to stick with Detroit's initial 53-man roster, but he'll continue his development with the team and remain in house as a pivot option. The 2020 sixth-round pick is coming off the worst season of his career, but he did pile up a 61-839-3 receiving line with the Browns back in 2022. He figures to be one of the first names called up in the regular season if the Lions suffer any injuries to their wide receiver corps.

The Lions are releasing Peoples-Jones on Monday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. Peoples-Jones, who played in eight regular-season games for Detroit last season after being acquired via trade, couldn't show enough in his first offseason with the team to stick on the 53-man roster. The 2020 sixth-round pick now will need to search for an opportunity to latch on elsewhere in the league.

The Lions activated Peoples-Jones (undisclosed) off the active/non-football injury list Wednesday. Peoples-Jones didn't miss much of training camp before getting healthy, and he's now been cleared to join his teammates on the practice field. The 2020 sixth-round pick is coming off the worst season of his NFL career, having played just 72 offensive snaps in 2023 across eight appearances. He appears set to battle for a roster spot during training camp and the preseason.
