• Chargers' Omarion Hampton: Nets just 27 scrimmage yards in loss

  Hampton rushed nine times for 20 yards and brought in two of three targets for seven yards in the Chargers' 24-9 loss to the Rams on Sunday. Hampton logged just one more carry than Kimani Vidal and five more than Keaton Mitchell, as the Chargers' ground game continued to resemble a committee scenario. Hampton now has 45 rushing yards or fewer in four straight games, and he's logged single-digit carries in three of those contests. The second-year back is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry behind an injury-hampered offensive line as well, leaving his outlook bleak for a Week 9 home matchup against an aggressive Texans defense next Sunday.

  I'm hopeful that things will improve for the winless Chargers (0-6) after their Week 7 bye, but I'm not ready to start Hampton in the majority of leagues yet. He has scored 7.9 PPR points or less in three of his past four games, and he will likely continue to share touches with Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal. The Rams have allowed six running backs this season to score at least 10.7 PPR points, but there's no guarantee that Hampton will have more success than Mitchell or Vidal. I would only use Hampton as a flex in most formats.

• Chargers' Omarion Hampton: Rushing totals continue to dip

  Hampton rushed seven times for 18 yards and caught all four of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 22-6 loss to the Chiefs. The Chargers continued to employ an ineffective backfield rotation, as Hampton got 11 touches compared to 10 for Kimani Vidal and two for Keaton Mitchell. None of the three running backs exceeded 3.0 yards per carry while QB Justin Herbert led the team with 26 rushing yards. Hampton has been trending in the wrong direction, with his rushing yardage dropping with each subsequent game since a 94-yard performance on the ground in Week 2 against the Raiders. He'll look to reverse that trend in Week 8 against the Rams following a Week 7 bye.

  Hampton had another rough outing in Week 5 against Denver with 14 carries for 33 yards and one catch for 6 yards on one target. He's now scored 8.3 PPR points or less in three of five games, and he continues to share touches with Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal, who led the backfield in snaps against the Broncos. Mitchell led the backfield in snaps in Week 4 against Seattle, and Hampton is tough to trust as even a flex option against the Chiefs in Week 6. Kansas City has allowed some big games to running backs this season as Jonathan Taylor, Ollie Gordon II and Ashton Jeanty each scored at least 14.5 PPR points, and I hope Hampton does something similar. But given his lack of production through five games, I'm hesitant to trust Hampton in the majority of leagues.

  Hampton turned 14 carries into 33 yards and one target into a six-yard catch during Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Broncos. Hampton has found room to run in the Chargers' mostly stagnant offense difficult to come by so far this season, averaging 3.7 YPC through five games after going for 4.4 as a rookie in 2025. And on Sunday in particular, he had to contend with fellow RBs Kimani Vidal (nine touches) and Keaton Mitchell (six) mixing into the action a decent amount. Due to ceding those reps to his backfield mates, Hampton's weekly ceiling doesn't appear to be as high as it may have seemed heading into the campaign.
