Jackson, who was serving a one-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, had his suspension lifted Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Jackson is currently a free agent and last played for the Patriots. The Maryland product had a rough 2023, which saw him benched by the Chargers, traded to New England where his struggles continued, and then placed on the reserve/non-football illness list due to personal issues.

Jackson has been suspended for the first game of the 2024 NFL season for violating the league's personal conduct policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per the report, Jackson -- who is currently a free agent -- is eligible to sign and participate in all preseason activities, with the cornerback's suspension set to take effect as of the upcoming roster reductions to 53 players. In 10 regular-season games last season (two with the Chargers and eight with the Patriots), Jackson combined for 28 tackles and an interception.

Jackson (personal) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Colts, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. As expected, Jackson will be staying at home in Week 10 to work through personal issues. His next opportunity to suit up will come after New England's bye in Week 11.

Jackson is not expected to travel with the Patriots to Germany for Sunday's game against the Colts, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Rapoport states that there are questions about Jackson's reliability and a decision was made to have him stay home, get through the bye and return in a better place. The Maryland product has appeared in five games for the Patriots this season, since being acquired from the Chargers on Oct. 4, playing 260 defensive snaps and making 14 tackles with three passes defended.

The Patriots acquired Jackson and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick from the Chargers on Wednesday in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round draft pick, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Jackson will be kicking off his second stint in New England, where he began his career as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He emerged as one of the game's top cornerbacks during his time with the Patriots, recording 25 interceptions in four seasons before bolting for Los Angeles in free agency following the 2021 campaign on a five-year, $82.5 million deal. He never appeared to be a good fit with the Chargers, however, as he missed extensive time with a ruptured patellar tendon in 2022 and struggled in coverage in the first two games of 2023 before being a healthy inactive the past two weeks. Since Jackson's deal contains no guaranteed money beyond this season, the Patriots won't take on much risk by bringing him aboard, and the return to a familiar scheme could help rejuvenate the 27-year-old. Jackson may even be a candidate to move into a starting role right away with rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez out indefinitely with a torn labrum and dislocated shoulder.
