  • The Titans signed Turner to the practice squad Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. The signing marks Turner's first contract of the regular season after he was waived by the Commanders on Aug. 26. The tight end will be a reserve piece for the Titans, being available for elevation to the active roster behind starters Gunnar Helm, Chig Okonkwo and David Martin-Robinson.

  • Turner signed a reserve/future contract with the Commanders on Tuesday. Turner spent the entire 2024 season on the Commanders' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp. The Nevada product has played in 22 regulars-season games since being selected by Washington in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Turner will be on the Commanders' 90-man roster at the start of the new league year, and he'll use OTAs, minicamp and training camp as an opportunity to earn a spot on the 53-man roster for the 2025 campaign.

Turner was waived by the Commanders on Tuesday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. Turner was unable to crack a Washington tight end depth chart led by veteran Zach Ertz. The third-year pro caught 11 passes for 120 yards in 12 games for the Commanders in 2023.

  • Turner caught 11 of 15 targets for 120 yards in 12 games during the 2023 season. There was some spring/summer chatter about Turner potentially supplanting Logan Thomas as Washington's top tight end, but it never came to fruition even after the second-year pro caught seven passes over the first three weeks of the season. Turner caught just four balls the rest of the year and was even a healthy scratch at times, so he'll need to compete for a job in 2024 even if Thomas is released to help clear cap space.

  • Turner played seven of the Commanders' 55 snaps on offense and hauled in his lone target for a two-yard reception in Sunday's 45-15 loss to the Dolphins. While the second-year player profiles as a strong pass catcher and has run routes on 60.3 percent of his offensive snaps this season, he's not seeing enough playing time behind fellow tight ends Logan Thomas and John Bates to make much of a splash in the box score. Through his 11 appearances this season, Turner has yet to find the end zone and has recorded more than one reception on just two occasions.
