Martin (leg) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Texans. Despite a week of full practice, Martin will remain on Detroit's injured reserve list and miss Sunday's contest. Expect Mekhi Wingo to continue working as one of the Lions' top rotational interior defensive linemen until Martin is activated off IR.

Martin (leg) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Martin suffered the injury in the team's preseason finale, which will force him to miss at least the first four weeks of the season. The second-year pro will be eligible to return Oct. 13 against the Cowboys, if he is healthy enough to do so.

Martin did not return to Saturday's presason game against the Steelers due to a leg injury, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports. Martin limped off the field after being checked out with trainers and was diagnosed with a hyperextension, per Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. The 2023 third-round pick is battling for a depth spot at defensive tackle behind presumptive starters Alim McNeill and DJ Reader (quadriceps). Martin played in three regular-season games in his rookie year, finishing with three tackles (one solo).
