• Colts' Alec Pierce: Catches late TD in loss

  Pierce secured four of seven targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 30-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday. Pierce recorded a team-high yardage total and checked in second in targets, an extension of a resurgent season for the third-year pro. Pierce also tallied his career-high fourth touchdown of the campaign on a 10-yard pass from Joe Flacco with two seconds remaining, a score that still carried plenty of meaning for fantasy managers. Pierce benefited from the absence of Michael Pittman (back) in Sunday's game, but he should continue in a solid complementary role at minimum even if Pittman returns for a Week 11 road matchup against the Jets.

  Pierce caught all three of his targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 21-13 loss to the Vikings. Pierce's 41 receiving yards were second on the team behind Josh Downs' 60, while no other teammate had more than 22. After posting 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 17 targets through Week 5, Pierce has cooled off with only 67 yards and no touchdowns on 16 targets over the last four games. Getting back on track won't be easy in Week 10 against a Bills defense that tends to limit the big downfield plays on which Pierce thrives.

Pierce was able to get open deep several times, but quarterback Anthony Richardson struggled to make accurate passes to make a connection. However, he could have had a better game if not for a drop on a wide open, easy target. Pierce remains one of Anthony Richardson's favorite targets but is going to be a boom-or-bust option for fantasy purposes each week as is he's mostly a deep threat in the offense.

Pierce missed practice Thursday due to the shoulder issue, and despite taking a questionable tag into the weekend, he cleared up most of the concern about his health by turning in a full practice Friday. He'll be available Sunday along with fellow wideouts Michael Pittman (back) and Josh Downs (toe) -- who were also listed as questionable -- with Pierce likely to serve as a downfield threat for strong-armed quarterback Anthony Richardson. With 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns through six games, Pierce has fared well with both Richardson and Joe Flacco under center, but he's achieved his production on a likely unsustainable 17.5 yards per target. With steady involvement in the passing game not guaranteed, Pierce profiles as a boom-or-bust fantasy option, with his weekly utility likely hinging on him finding the end zone or making a huge play downfield.
