The Falcons placed Moore (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, ruling him out for the entire 2024 campaign, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports. Moore was carted off the field due to what was reported as a non-contact knee injury during Wednesday's joint practice with the Dolphins, and Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms that the issue is severe enough to rule him out for the year. It's brutal timing for the 2021 second-round pick, who was traded to Atlanta earlier this offseason and had an opportunity to revitalize his career under new Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Moore will now turn his attention toward recovering for the 2025 season, while Ray-Ray McCloud now seems to have a clearer path to the No. 3 wide receiver spot.

Smith was carted off the field at Wednesday's practice due to a non-contact right knee injury, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports. Moore's injury caused Wednesday's joint session with the Dolphins to be called early, an indication that he could be dealing with a severe issue. A torn ACL or another major knee injury would be a brutal development for the 2021 second-round pick, who has spent training camp mostly working with the second-string offense and is competing to carve out a role on offense behind top wideouts Drake London and Darnell Mooney. If Moore's injury indeed results in a long-term absence, Ray-Ray McCloud will be left with almost no competition for the No. 3 wide receiver spot.

Ray-Ray McCloud seems to have the "inside track" over Moore to be Atlanta's slot receiver, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports. McCloud got a lot of first-team snaps throughout the offseason program and now is getting most of the slot work with Kirk Cousins and the starting offense during the first week of training camp. Moore, meanwhile, reportedly has been one of Michael Penix's favorite targets on the second-string offense, which suggests the 5-foot-7 receiver is at least making a case to earn more reps with the starters. There's still plenty of time for things to change, but it's not a great sign for Moore that he's currently behind a veteran journeyman like McCloud who is mostly known for returning punts and kicks.

The Cardinals are slated to trade Moore to the Falcons in exchange for Desmond Ridder, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Per Pelissero, this is a 1-for-1 player deal, with Ridder headed to Arizona to back up signal-caller Kyler Murray and Moore on his way to Atlanta to bolster the team's wideout corps. In 17 regular-season games for the Cardinals in 2023, Moore caught 40 of his 62 targets for 352 yards and one touchdown and logged 28 carries for 178 yards and another score. In his new locale, the 2021 second-rounder should have a chance serve as a key target for new QB Kirk Cousins alongside fellow WRs Drake London and Darnell Mooney. In that context, Moore has a chance to re-emerge on the fantasy radar in deeper formats this coming season.

Moore gathered in 40 of 62 targets for 352 yards and one touchdown and took 28 carries for 178 yards and another touchdown in 17 games in the 2023 campaign. For the first time in his three-year career, Moore logged a full 17-game slate, and he managed career highs in yards from scrimmage (530) and TDs (two) while working with three different signal-callers. Having said that, he had similar success with No. 1 Kyler Murray back under center than he did prior to Week 10, notching 31.5 total yards per game after that versus 30.9 before then. Moore has one year remaining on his rookie deal, and offseason moves will determine where the 2021 second-rounder stands in the WR pecking order next season.
