Gibbs rushed 23 times for 153 yards and a touchdown while bringing in two of four targets for 15 yards in the Lions' 19-15 win over the Vikings on Sunday. Gibbs and the Lions started relatively slowly against the Vikings' aggressive defense, netting just six first-half points. However, Gibbs continued to plug away against Minnesota's talented front, and he eventually began breaking through for multiple productive runs. Gibbs warmed up for a big second half with a 19-yard scamper just before halftime, and he went on to add a game-long 30-yard run for his one touchdown in the latter portion of the third quarter. Gibbs then helped seal the victory with scampers of 17, nine and nine yards on Detroit's next-to-last drive, as well as his final 28 rushing yards of the day on the final possession. The star back ultimately finished with his second-highest rushing yardage total of the season and third of greater than 150 yards, affording him massive momentum heading into a favorable Week 9 road matchup against the Dolphins next Sunday.

Gibbs (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday. Gibbs was absent from Wednesday's session due to a shoulder injury, but with his return to all activity one day later, the issue isn't a significant one. He thus should be good to go for his typical 27.7 touches per game that he's averaged through the first six contests of the campaign Sunday against the Vikings.

Gibbs (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports. Gibbs didn't practice Wednesday, but his return Thursday comes as no surprise, as the Lions gave numerous veteran players a day off Wednesday. If Gibbs ultimately practices without limitations Thursday, that would eliminate any lingering doubts regarding the star running back's availability for Sunday's pivotal showdown against the NFC North rival Vikings.

Gibbs carried the ball 29 times for 116 yards and caught five of six targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over Green Bay. For the first time this season, Gibbs failed to get into the end zone, but he made up for it by delivering more than 100 scrimmage yards for the fifth time in six games. The fourth-year back continues to handle a massive workload, averaging 27.7 touches a game, but Gibbs has earned it by leading the NFL in scrimmage TDs with nine, and staying neck-and-neck with Bijan Robinson for the lead in scrimmage yards. Gibbs faces his toughest test yet in 2026 against a dominant Vikings defense in Week 8.
