  • Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh labeled McConkey (rib) as day-to-day Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Harbaugh added that the Chargers will see how McConkey progresses throughout the week before determining his availability for Sunday's game agains the Raiders. McConkey delivered a 5-82-1 line on seven targets before exiting late in the third quarter of Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Cardinals due to what the Chargers initially referred to as a chest injury. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network clarified earlier Monday that McConkey is instead recovering from a rib issue, and the wideout was set to undergo further testing. While Harbaugh didn't elaborate on what medical testing revealed, McConkey appears to have avoided anything significant. That said, McConkey's status for Week 2 appears to be in flux at the moment, and his activity in practices Wednesday through Friday likely will be the determining factor in whether or not he suits up Sunday.

  • Head coach Jim Harbaugh didn't have a postgame update on McConkey (chest), who exited in the second half of Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Cardinals, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. McConkey was originally deemed questionable to return after absorbing a big hit in the third quarter, and the 2024 second-round pick didn't re-enter the season-opening loss. Prior to getting injured, McConkey compiled five catches on seven targets for a team-high 82 receiving yards, including an eight-yard touchdown catch. McConkey's status will bear monitoring as the Chargers prepare to host the Raiders in Week 2.

  • McConkey failed to bring in his only target in the Chargers' 41-17 preseason loss to the 49ers on Thursday night. McConkey and the rest of the healthy Chargers offensive starters were out there to open the game Thursday, and the talented wideout couldn't corral his one target deep down the left side of the field during that first drive. McConkey's night was done after that possession, and the 2024 second-round pick will likely now turn his attention to prepping for a Week 1 home matchup against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 13.

  • McConkey said Tuesday that he's tending to a left hamstring strain, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports. Coach Jim Harbaugh told Insdorf earlier Tuesday that McConkey was "working through something" and would be limited to individual drills at this week's mandatory minicamp. McConkey clarified the nature of the injury not long afterward, while adding "let's get it healthy and ready to roll for" training camp. Through 32 regular-season games to begin his career, the 2024 second-round pick has tallied 148 catches on 218 targets for 1,938 yards and 13 touchdowns. McConkey will be seeking the second 1,000-yard campaign of his career under the direction of new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

  • Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Tuesday that McConkey (undisclosed) is "working through something" and will be limited to individual drills at mandatory minicamp, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports. Per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, Harbaugh downplayed the severity of McConkey's injury, so it doesn't appear there's any level of concern about his status for the start of training camp in July. The wideout racked up 66 catches for 789 yards and six scores on 106 targets across 16 regular-season games in 2025, a step down from his rookie year production (82-1,149-7) in 2024. There are reasons to be optimistic about McConkey's chances of rebounding, however, with quarterback Justin Herbert slated to benefit from a healthy offensive line, new OC Mike McDaniel bringing a spark to the offense, and Keenan Allen no longer providing competition for underneath targets.
