Brooks had one more practice squad elevation before he needed to be signed to the active roster, but the Cardinals chose to ink a deal before that was necessary. The receiver played 47 offensive snaps in Week 15, accumulating one catch for 19 yards on three targets. He also racked up 132 yards in five kick returns. Brooks was likely deemed valuable enough to sign due to the persistent injuries to fellow receivers Marvin Harrison (heel), Xavier Weaver (hamstring) and Andre Baccellia (neck).

The absence of wide receivers Marvin Harrison (heel), Greg Dortch (chest) and potentially Xavier Weaver (hamstring) give Brooks a huge opportunity in Sunday's contest. The 2023 seventh-rounder was elevated alongside Trent Sherfield to be a starting wide receiver for quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Brooks has received zero targets with only four offensive snaps played this year, but he ended the 2024 season with 12 receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown on 30 targets.

The 2023 seventh-round pick from South Carolina will now miss at least the Cowboys' next four contests, with his earliest possible return coming in the Week 13 matchup against the Chiefs. Brooks played four snaps on offense and 17 snaps with the special-teams unit in the Cowboys' 37-22 win over the Jets in Week 5. The wide receiver didn't record any stats on offense, while he added a tackle in punt coverage. Additionally, he suffered an apparent knee injury in the fourth quarter of the contest, and he was considered questionable to return, Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com reports.
