  • Robinson rushed 21 times for 83 yards and brought in eight of 10 targets for 90 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' 20-13 loss to the Steelers on Sunday. He also committed two fumbles, losing neither and recovering one. The Falcons' offense was hamstrung by the fact it was down to its third-string quarterback in Cooper Rush, who was also battling back spasms leading into the game. Robinson still toughed out yards on the ground throughout the afternoon, and he was Rush's safety valve early and often. Robinson comfortably led his squad in all of receptions, receiving yards and targets, and his 23-yard catch-and-run TD grab late in the first quarter served as Atlanta's only touchdown of the afternoon. The fourth-year pro will remain in a workhorse role for as long as he's healthy, and the star running back could see an upgrade at quarterback for a Week 2 divisional home matchup against the Panthers next Sunday if either Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) or Michael Penix (knee) is able to prove healthy enough to garner active status.

  • Robinson said Thursday that he's noticed an emphasis from the Falcons' new coaching staff in scheming up ways to create running room and help him reach the second level more quickly, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports. "We have a lot of different variations," Robinson said. "But, for me, it's to create space for yourself. [Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees] does a really good job of being intentional in trying to get us to the second level as fast as possible because when we get to the second level, I feel like that's where we're super dangerous as runners." Robinson led the NFL with 2,298 scrimmage yards in 2025, with the 24-year-old doing much of his damage on outside runs in former offensive coordinator Zac Robinson's wide-zone running scheme. The Falcons won't completely abandon those zone concepts during the upcoming season, but the new coaching staff plans to implement more gap and power-style run plays that it believes will help Robinson to maintain effectiveness while still allowing him to put his explosiveness in the open field on display. Rees and head coach Kevin Stefanski also plan to keep Robinson heavily involved in the screen game, after he led all running backs with 20 receptions on screens last season. While working with a less talented Browns running-back room in 2025, Stefanski and Rees helped Cleveland generate 413 yards on screen plays, second-most in the NFL.

  • Robinson did not play in the Falcons' 27-7 preseason loss to the Broncos on Friday. Robinson dressed and warmed up pregame but observed Friday's exhibition contest from the sidelines. He was the only Falcons running back to not suit up, as Brian Robinson played in each of the first two offensive series while Tyler Goodson led all Atlanta RB's with 24 snaps on offense. Per Will McFadden and Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site, Robinson is still in ramp-up mode after recently returning to practice, so he could play in Atlanta's next preseason game, which takes place Saturday, Aug. 22, against Indianapolis.

  • Robinson did not participate in Wednesday's training camp practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Robinson's absence from Atlanta's first training camp session appears to be related to his desire for a long-term deal with the team, rather than any sort of injury. Elsewhere, another superstar 2023 first-round running back in Jahmyr Gibbs is also not practicing for the Lions, seemingly due to a similar want for a multi-year deal. The Falcons exercised Robinson's fifth-year option for 2027 earlier this offseason, but there's no question that the star running back -- who totaled a career-best 2,298 yards from scrimmage in 2025 -- is underpaid relative to his true value. It remains to be seen whether Robinson's hold-in will extend beyond the early stages of training camp, but at this stage there have been no developments that should detract from his position as one of the clear top options in the first round of 2026 fantasy drafts.

  • The Falcons picked up the fifth-year option of Robinson's rookie contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The transaction keeps Robinson under contract through 2027 and provides Atlanta more time to negotiate a potential long-term extension, so it's little surprise to see the team pick up the 2023 first-round pick's fifth-year option. Robinson has compiled back-to-back years with over 1,400 rushing yards, and in 2025 he added a 79-829-4 receiving line (104 targets) while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games. The star running back also had seven rushing scores and a career-high 5.1 YPC mark in 2025. Even given the uncertainty surrounding Atlanta's offense -- there's a QB battle between Michael Penix (knee) and Tua Tagovailoa looming this offseason, and the surprise retirement of RT Kaleb McGary (leg) has prompted the team to sign Jawaan Taylor -- Robinson is firmly in the mix for consideration as not only the top RB off the board in 2026 fantasy drafts, but as the No.1 overall selection.
