The Giants signed Platzgummer to the practice squad Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Platzgummer will continue to develop with New York as part of the International Player Pathway program. He played for the Swarco Raiders Tirol in Austria before transitioning to the NFL as a running back.

Platzgummer re-signed with the Giants on Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. Platzgummer has yet to make his NFL debut. He's been rostered by the Giants as a part of the NFL International Player Pathway Program the past two years, but he was cut before the start of the regular season both times.

Platzgummer spent the preseason competing for a depth role in New York, but he wasn't able to stick to the initial 53-man roster. He spent the 2020 season on the Giants' practice squad and could be a candidate to resurface there again.

Platzgummer spent last season on New York's practice squad and was re-signed in April. The 24-year-old is unlikely to crack the rotation as the Giants brought in Devontae Booker and Corey Clement to serve as the backups behind Saquon Barkley.
