Nick Folk: Lands kicking job
With Justin Rohrwasser slated to be waived, Folk heads into Week 1 as the Patriots' kicker, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Rohrwasser was a fifth-round draft pick, but that didn't prevent the Patriots from turning to Folk, who spent time with the team last season. Rohrwasser is thus a practice squad candidate, while Folk will now kick behind a New England offense headed by new QB Cam Newton.

Cairo Santos K | CHI
Cairo Santos: Unable to make final team
The Bears are expected to release Santos on Saturday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times reports.
Chicago's kicking situation remains tumultuous, with Eddy Pineiro (groin) still up in the air for Week 1, so a potential reunion with Santos can't be ruled out. Finley notes that the Bears could consider carrying two kickers on the active roster in addition to another on the practice squad. If the Bears hope to stash Pineiro on injured reserve and bring back Santos during the interim, the team would need to wait until Monday before making such a move.

Eddy Pineiro K | SF
Bears' Eddy Pineiro: Unlikely to play Week1
Pineiro (groin) didn't attempt field goals during the media portion of training camp practices Saturday and is unlikely to be available for at least Week 1, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
With Cairo Santos expected to be released, the Bears could try to bring him back on the practice squad so that he can replace Pineiro to start the season. In addition, if the team desires to move Pineiro to injured reserve and bring him back during the season, it must wait until Monday to make that move. For now, Pineiro is not a recommended fantasy option unless his situation is resolved and he's back on the field as the starting kicker.

Rodrigo Blankenship K | TB
Colts' Rodrigo Blankenship: Wins kicking job
Blankenship will be the Colts' kicker to begin the season after Chase McLaughlin was waived Saturday, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Blakenship outperformed McLaughlin during the team's scrimmage last week, which seemed to be the difference maker in an otherwise tight competition throughout training camp. The Georgia product was a standout kicker at the collegiate level, making 80 of his 97 career field-goal attempts, but he didn't wind up getting drafted. That ultimately might have been a blessing in disguise, as Blankenship should now be set to take over for long-time Colt Adam Vinatieri at the pivotal position. McLaughlin, who served as the fill-in for the Colts last season after Vinatieri was limited by injury, will now hit the waiver wire.

Chase McLaughlin K | TB
Chase McLaughlin: Loses competition with Blankenship
The Colts will waive McLaughlin, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
McLaughlin filled in for the injured Adam Vinatieri down the stretch last year, but he was beaten out for the Colts' 2020 kicking job by rookie Rodrigo Blankenship.

Matt Gay K | SF
Matt Gay: Loses out to Succop
The Buccaneers will waive Gay, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
It looked like Gay would have the opportunity to kick behind the Bucs' re-tooled offense, but instead the team will turn to the recently signed Ryan Succop. Gay will now look to catch on elsewhere, with NFL teams in the midst of cutdowns in the coming days.

Nick Folk K | NYJ
Patriots' Nick Folk: Appears to have edge
Folk could be named the Patriots' kicker after rookie Justin Rohrwasser struggled during training camp, Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal reports.
Folk finished last year with New England, making 14 of 17 field goals and all 12 of his extra points in seven games following long-time kicker Stephen Gostkowski's season-ending hip injury. With Gostkowski now in Tennessee, the Patriots selected Rohrwasser in the fifth round of this year's draft, but they also re-signed Folk in the wake of inconsistency from the rookie during camp. After making 86 percent of his kicks over the team's final five sessions, Folk emerged as the favorite over Rohrwasser, who converted just 55 percent of his attempts. As a result, it wouldn't be a surprise if Folk is named the starter once the regular-season roster is finalized Saturday afternoon.

Justin Rohrwasser K | NE
Patriots' Justin Rohrwasser: Could get cut
Rohrwasser's struggles in training camp may result in him being cut and veteran Nick Folk winning the Patriots' kicking competition, Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal reports.
Rohrwasser made only 55 percent of his field-goal attempts over New England's final five days of camp, which paled in comparison to Folk's 86 percent success rate over the same span. As the team looks to replace long-time kicker Stephen Gostkowski rather than immediately entrusting an inconsistent rookie in Rohrwasser, the veteran Folk may prove the preferred option. A decision on the matter is expected ahead of Saturday's 4:00 PM ET deadline to trim rosters for the regular season.

Greg Joseph K | LV
Greg Joseph: Waived by Tennessee
The Titans waived Joseph on Thursday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Early reports from training camp suggested Joseph was winning his kicker battle with undrafted rookie Tucker McCann. Regardless, it's McCann who still has a roster spot after the team brought in Stephen Gostkowski to handle the job. Joseph should be near the top of the list for any team that runs into kicker issues this season.

Brett Maher K | LAR
Brett Maher: Cut loose by Jets
The Jets released Maher on Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Sam Ficken is left as the lone kicker on the roster, while Maher will hope to catch on elsewhere at some point this season. The transaction frees up a roster spot for veteran wideout Donte Moncrief.
