Ka'imi Fairbairn K | HOU
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Returns to work
Fairbairn (undisclosed) has returned to practice, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
The Texans signed Nick Rose to fill in for Fairbairn, but he missed both of his field goals attempts in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams. Assuming no further setbacks, Fairbairn is locked in as the team's kicker after making 20 of 25 tries in 16 games last year, en route to recording 92 points.

Matt Bryant K | ATL
Falcons' Matt Bryant: Will rest in preseason finale
Bryant won't kick in Thursday's preseason game against the Dolphins, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
The 43-year-old battled an undisclosed injury through the first two preseason games, so the Falcons see no need to push him further. The team signed Giorgio Tavecchio on Monday, so there was speculation about Bryant's job security despite a proven track record. Tavecchio will serve as a place holder for the preseason finale and will likely be released afterwards.

Giorgio Tavecchio K | ATL
Falcons' Giorgio Tavecchio: Heading to Atlanta
Tavecchio signed with the Falcons on Monday.
Tavecchio, who was waived by Oakland earlier this preseason, seems an odd fit for a Falcons team which recently signed Matt Bryant to a three-year contract extension. While Tavecchio performed decently as an incumbent starter for the Raiders in 2017, Bryant is one of the league's top options at the position and has finished in the top five among kickers during each of the last two campaigns. The addition of Tavecchio may indicate that the Falcons remain concerned about the lingering undisclosed injury that Bryant has dealt with this summer, despite the fact that the team's all-time leading scorer was able to suit up and kick two field goals in last week's preseason game against the Jaguars.

Ross Martin K | CLE
Browns' Ross Martin: Performs well in practice Sunday
Martin hit four of five field goals, including one from 53 yards, during Sunday's practice session, Nate Ulrich of The Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Martin was set up in a duel with incumbent kicker Zane Gonzalez, with each kicker attempting a field goal from 34, 38, 40, 45 and 53 yards. Gonzalez went three for five, missing from 34 and 53, while Martin's only miss came from 38. Gonzalez is coming off a preseason tilt that saw him make a 54-yard field goal and he appears to be taking over the kicking battle. However, Martin's performance Sunday suggests the decisions haven't been made yet and he could grab the job for himself entering Week 1.

Zane Gonzalez K | ATL
Browns' Zane Gonzalez: Out-dueled in practice
Gonzalez was beaten in a kicking drill by Ross Martin on Sunday, Nate Ulrich of The Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Gonzalez, the Browns incumbent kicker, has performed well in the preseason but was bested on Sunday. Each kicker had five field goal attempts, one each from 34, 38, 40, 45 and 53 yards. Gonzalez went three of five, missing from 34 and 53 yards out, while Ross Martin went four of five, missing from 38. Despite the outcome of the kicking battle, Gonzalez is coming off a preseason game that saw him hit a 54-yard field goal and he's still the favorite to be the Browns' kicker come Week 1.

Matt Bryant K | ATL
Falcons' Matt Bryant: Connects on two field-goal attempts
Bryant converted on field-goal tries of 33 and 47 yards during Atlanta's 17-6 loss to the Jaguars on Saturday.
In his first preseason action of the year, Bryant picked up where he left off in 2017. With his two successful field goals Saturday, the 16-year veteran has now sunk 31 of his last 33 attempts dating back to Week 8 of last season. A top-five finisher at the position during each of the past two campaigns, Bryant projects to be one of the more promising options at kicker as the beneficiary of a high-flying Falcons offense that only converted 49.2 percent of red-zone trips into touchdowns last year (10th-worst rate in the NFL).

Falcons' Matt Bryant: Gains clearance to play
Bryant (undisclosed) will suit up for Saturday's preseason contest in Jacksonville, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Bryant missed the team's first two exhibitions due to an unknown injury, but after returning to practice Wednesday he did enough to gain clearance from team trainers. Despite receiving far fewer extra-point chances in 2017 than during his NFL-high 158-point campaign the previous season, he still posted 137 last year, which was good for eighth-most in the league.

Eddy Pineiro K | SF
Raiders' Eddy Pineiro: Will be evaluated next week
Pineiro (groin) will be evaluated next week to help determine his availability for the regular-season opener against the Rams, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Pineiro has now missed two consecutive preseason games due to a groin injury. In his stead, Mike Nugent has converted three of four field goal attempts for the Raiders, but missed his only attempt from over 40 yards. Pineiro made six of seven attempts from 40-plus yards during his senior season at Florida and as a rookie has higher upside than Nugent, so Oakland will be hoping next week's evaluation determines that Pineiro will be good to go for the regular season.

Daniel Carlson K | LV
Vikings' Daniel Carlson: Misses two field-goal attempts
Carlson missed both field-goal attempts, each from 42 yards, in Friday's preseason win over Seattle. The Vikings went for two two-point attempts after Carlson's field-goal misses. "If he's going to miss them, I'm going to let him know we're going to go for two," head coach Mike Zimmer told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Carlson won the kicking job earlier in the week when the team released Kai Forbath. Zimmer may just be sending a message to Carlson, but his stark statements could mean Carlson won't have much job security early in the season if he struggles.

Zane Gonzalez K | ATL
Browns' Zane Gonzalez: Earns praise in preseason win
Head coach Hue Jackson dubbed Gonazlez's 54-yard field goal against the Eagles "impressive" Friday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Gonzalez continues to distance himself from fellow kicker Ross Martin in the battle for the Browns' starting kicker job. The 23-year-old was called upon for Cleveland's only field-goal attempt against the Eagles, and accounted for the team's only offensive points by nailing the tough 54-yard try. A seventh-round pick last year, Gonzalez seems the odds-on favorite to serve as the Week 1 kicker.
