  • Hunter Dekkers: Sidelined by undisclosed injury

The Saints placed Dekkers (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Dekkers has bounced on and off the Saints' practice squad early this season. He'll now be ineligible to be elevated to the active roster for at least the next four games.

  • Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield: Limited in practice Wednesday

Mayfield was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a right biceps injury.

It's not ideal that the injury is to his throwing arm, but Mayfield's ability to practice in any capacity suggests he's on track to play Sunday against the Eagles. WR Mike Evans (hamstring) isn't expected to play, but Chris Godwin (ankle) is closing in on his 2025 debut after upgrading to full practice participation Wednesday.

  • Jayden Daniels QB | WAS

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Needs clearance from team doctors

Daniels (knee) said he felt no discomfort during a limited practice Wednesday, but he still isn't sure if team doctors will clear him for Sunday's game at Atlanta, ESPN.com's John Keim reports.

The gist of Daniels' media session was that he thinks he's healthy enough to play but isn't sure if the doctors will let him. He also said he'll defer to medical staff on the potential use of a knee brace, having never tried/needed one before. The Commanders could hardly be blamed for a cautious approach this early in the season, especially after backup QB Marcus Mariota played well last week, but it does sound like Daniels wants to play and thinks he can do so.

  • Cam Ward QB | TEN

Titans' Cam Ward: Limited at practice Wednesday

Ward (ankle/calf) was limited at practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Ward was on the field for all 70 of the Titans' snaps on offense in the team's 41-20 loss to Colts in Week 3, so it's unclear if the QB came out of that contest banged-up or if his listed ankle/calf issues are a result of Wednesday's practice. In any case, the status of Ward -- whose backup is Brandon Allen -- is now worth tracking as Sunday's game against the Texans approaches.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

    49ers' Mac Jones: Limited Wednesday

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jones (knee) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Both Jones and No. 1 QB Brock Purdy (shoulder/toe) will operate with a cap on their reps to begin Week 4 prep, and the duo along with practice-squad member Adrian Martinez will handle first-team reps. Jones himself has started the last two games in place of Purdy, completing 53 of 80 passes (66 percent) for 563 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, turning seven carries into five yards and fumbling twice (one lost). If Purdy needs another week to get to 100 percent, Jones likely would get the start Sunday versus the Jaguars, but a PCL sprain in his left knee may be throwing a wrench into those plans.

  • Brock Purdy QB | SF

49ers' Brock Purdy: To be limited Wednesday

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy (left shoulder/toe) will be limited at Wednesday's practice, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

The same can be said for fellow QB Mac Jones (knee), and the duo along with practice-squad member Adrian Martinez all will handle some first-team reps. Purdy has missed the past two games due to a turf toe variant and an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, and how he fares on the field this week likely will determine who will be under center for the 49ers on Sunday against the Jaguars.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Giants' Russell Wilson: In backup role for good

Giants coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday that Wilson will operate as the backup to Jaxson Dart for the rest of the season, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports.

Wilson heads to the bench after three starts, and the team isn't leaving the door open for any further changes under center with Dart now in the No. 1 position. Daboll said Wilson as a "pro" about his being benched. While New York hasn't mentioned the possibility of any future trade, Wilson's presence is somewhat redundant for the team due to the presence of Jameis Winston in the No. 3 role. After an awful start to the year though, aside from his huge Week 2 production versus the Cowboys, it's unclear whether even quarterback-needy teams around the league will express much interest in Wilson's availability.

  • Jaxson Dart QB | NYG

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Officially named starting QB

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday that Dart will be the team's starting quarterback for the rest of the season, beginning with Sunday's contest against the Chargers, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.

Dart will take over under center Week 4 while Russell Wilson transitions to a backup role, Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms, and the Giants don't intend to consider any further pivots. The first test for Dart will be difficult, as the Chargers' defense is one of only four units in the NFL that has allowed two total passing touchdowns across the first three weeks of the regular season. There are reasons to be optimistic about Dart's fantasy upside, namely due to his dual-threat capabilities, plus the presence of difference-making No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers and a capable safety valve in Wan'Dale Robinson, but fantasy managers will likely want to wait for the rookie signal-caller to either prove himself before trusting him in weekly lineups, or wait for a more favorable matchup such as Week 5 against the Saints.

  • Jayden Daniels QB | WAS

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Set for limited practice

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Daniels (knee) will be limited in practice Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Quinn said Daniels is "doing everything you possibly can to get there" for Sunday's game against the Falcons, but it sounds as though the starting quarterback remains day-to-day. If Washington has any lingering concerns about Daniels' health, Marcus Mariota will be primed to draw another start after he performed well under center Week 3. Meanwhile, top wideout Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) is not practicing Wednesday, per Jhabvala.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Giants' Russell Wilson: Heading to bench

With the Giants planning to start Jaxson Dart at quarterback Sunday against the Chargers, Wilson will head to the bench, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Wilson had a huge Week 2 against the Cowboys, throwing for 450 yards and three touchdowns, but he's been abysmal outside of that contest. In his two other starts, Wilson has completed just 50.7 percent of his passes and averaged 4.8 yards per attempt with zero touchdowns. Wilson will serve as the Giants' QB2 behind Dart against the Chargers, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports, as Jameis Winston will remain the third quarterback.
