  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Will serve as No. 3 QB

Rudolph (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against San Francisco, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky were competing for the team's backup role behind Kenny Pickett this offseason, and it seems that Trubisky has won the job for now. Rudolph's next chance to be active on game day will come in Week 2 against Cleveland.

  • Malik Willis QB | MIA

Titans' Malik Willis: Will serve as No. 2 QB

Willis is active and will serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Ryan Tannehill on Sunday versus New Orleans, Joe Rexrode of The Athletic reports.

Willis and rookie second-round pick Will Levis were competing for the top backup spot during preseason action, and it appears the former has won the job for now, as the latter is a healthy scratch for Week 1. Willis struggled in limited action last year but will be the first man up if Tannehill is sidelined again in 2023.

  • Brandon Allen QB | NYG

49ers' Brandon Allen: Odd man out

Allen (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Steelers.

Allen was able to make the team as the No. 3 quarterback, but he'll be wearing street clothes in Pittsburgh, while San Francisco opts to dress just Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold.

  • Jaren Hall QB | SEA

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Inactive against Bucs

Hall (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Hall played Minnesota's entire final preseason game, suggesting he was third on the team's depth chart. Nick Mullens will serve as the backup to Kirk Cousins.

  • Tyler Huntley QB | BAL

Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Third QB in Week 1

Huntley is the Ravens' inactive third QB for Sunday's game against the Texans, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Per Wacker, Huntley indicated Friday that he wasn't quite back from a hamstring issue. As a result, Josh Johnson is slated to serve as Baltimore's No. 2 QB behind Lamar Jackson on Sunday.

  • Will Levis QB | TEN

Titans' Will Levis: Third quarterback to begin career

Levis (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Levis will serve as the Titans' third quarterback, with Malik Willis instead serving as Ryan Tannehill's backup. Levis missed two of the team's three preseason games with a thigh injury, so this decision doesn't come as a significant surprise.

  • Logan Woodside QB | ARI

Falcons' Logan Woodside: Serving as emergency QB

Woodside (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, but he'll dress and serve as the Falcons' emergency quarterback, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Woodside doesn't count against the 53-man roster but will be available if Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke are forced out of the game. Woodside appeared in one game for Atlanta last year but played just four offensive snaps and didn't attempt a pass.

  • Matt Corral QB | MIN

Patriots' Matt Corral: Away from team

Corral (undisclosed) was placed on the Patriots' exempt/left squad list Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The second-year signal-caller was not waived by New England but was placed on the team's reserve/left squad list. It's unclear why Corral is not with the Patriots at the moment, but once he returns, he'll rejoin a quarterback room of Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.

  • Brett Rypien QB | MIN

Rams' Brett Rypien: Elevated from practice squad

The Rams have elevated Rypien to their active roster ahead of Sunday's season-opening game in Seattle.

No surprise here, as Stetson Bennett (shoulder) has been ruled out and could be heading to injured reserve. As a result, Rypien is the No. 2 option under center behind Matthew Stafford for the immediate future. The 27-year-old Rypien suited up for eight games across three seasons with the Broncos' organization prior to landing with the Rams. He managed to tally 80 completions on 130 attempts for 778 yards, four touchdowns and eight interceptions during that time.

  • Matt Corral QB | MIN

Matt Corral: Let go by New England

Corral (undisclosed) was waived from the Patriots' active roster Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

It's unclear what injury Corral suffered during the week or if it weighed into the decision to waive the second-year signal caller, but it's entirely possible Corral could rejoin the Patriots' practice squad in due time. The Patriots signed Bailey Zappe to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move.
