  • Logan Woodside QB | ARI

Falcons' Logan Woodside: Plays full game Friday

Woodside completed 14 of 23 passes for 146 yards without a touchdown or interception in Friday's preseason win over the Dolphins. He also gained five yards on his only carry.

The Falcons' No. 3 quarterback went the distance, as neither Desmond Ridder nor Taylor Heinicke saw any action in the team's exhibition opener. Woodside was originally drafted in 2018 but has only attempted three passes in his NFL career to date, and his lack of success Friday -- he led only one scoring drive, capped by an 11-yard TD run from Godwin Igwebuike, and the bulk of Atlanta's points in a 19-3 win came on defense and special teams -- doesn't make a compelling case for a bigger role in 2023.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Lions' Jared Goff: Not expected to play Friday

Goff isn't slated to play in Friday's preseason game against the Giants, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.

With Goff in street clothes and newcomer Teddy Bridgewater also unavailable, the combination of Nate Sudfeld and undrafted rookie Adrian Martinez will direct the Lions offense in the team's exhibition opener. Goff's next opportunity for some preseason action will arrive Saturday, Aug. 19 against the Jaguars.

  • Bengals' Jake Browning: Expected to start Friday

Browning is in line to start Friday's preseason game against the Packers, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.

With top QB Joe Burrow nursing a calf injury, Condon notes that Browning and Trevor Siemian are slated to see QB reps for the Bengals on Friday, while it's also possible that Reid Sinnett could factor in.

  • Tua Tagovailoa QB | ATL

Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Not slated to play Friday

Tagovailoa is not in line to see action in Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

Wolfe also indicates that Atlanta signal caller Desmond Ridder is not slated to play in the contest. In Tagovailoa's anticipated absence, Skylar Thompson and Mike White are available to handle Miami's QB reps Friday.

  • Falcons' Desmond Ridder: Not expected to play Friday night

Ridder isn't expected to play in Friday night's preseason opener against the Dolphins, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Ridder is an inexperienced quarterback with just four games under his belt. However, the Falcons are apparently confident with the reps he's gotten in practice. If Ridder isn't playing, we shouldn't expect to see much, if anything, from Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier and Drake London.

  • Daniel Jones QB | IND

Giants' Daniel Jones: Not expected to play Friday night

Jones isn't expected to play in Friday night's preseason opener against the Lions, The Athletic's Dan Duggan reports.

Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito will split the quarterback reps in Friday's exhibition, while Jones' next opportunity to make his preseason debut will come next Friday night against the Lions.

  • Will Levis QB | TEN

Titans' Will Levis: Working with third-string offense

Levis has been running the third-string offense in practice while Malik Willis is working with the second-string offense, Joe Rexrode of The Athletic reports.

Levis still has an uphill climb to win the backup spot behind Ryan Tannehill. However, the 33rd overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft has been closing ground and could potentially leapfrog Willis with a strong performance in the preseason, starting with Saturday's game against the Bears. Willis was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and while he started three games as a rookie, he struggled to a 0:3 TD:INT. Rexrode notes that Levis is far ahead of where Willis was at this point as a rookie.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Seen running and throwing Friday

Prior to Friday's preseason opener against the Packers, Burrow (calf) was spotted on the field doing some running and throwing, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.

Per Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Burrow was able to make some "big throws down the field" during Friday's pre-game session and was not wearing a protective leg sleeve while doing so. Though it remains to be seen how close the QB is to a return to action, both reports are highly encouraging with regard to Burrow's chances of being ready for the start of the regular season.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Not expected to suit up Saturday

Stafford is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Chargers, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Coach Sean McVay isn't breaking from his tradition of not playing key starters in the preseason. Stafford barely threw last summer due to an elbow issue and then battled a concussion and neck injury during the regular season, seeing his 2022 come to a close in Week 11. This summer, Stafford has been throwing regularly and has shown no ill effects from the neck issue. Joining Stafford on the sideline Saturday will be Cooper Kupp (hamstring) and Aaron Donald (coach's decison).

  • Patriots' Malik Cunningham: Logs QB snaps Thursday

Cunningham completed three of four passes for 19 yards and ran five times for 34 yards (including a nine-yard TD) in Thursday's 20-9 preseason loss to the Texans.

Per Mike Dussault of the Patriots' official site, Cunningham entered the game in the fourth quarter and ended up running some read-option plays like he has in practice of late. While the Louisville product, who joined the team as a UDFA, is no threat to climb to the top of the team's QB depth chart at this point, Cunningham has been seeing wideout reps in training camp and his positional versatility is something that could keep him around in some capacity following roster cuts.
